I'm in NYC. I think Long Island is going to get hammered badly. Sh^t we may lose power here. I also just found out in NYC there are no arrests to be made by NYPD officers once the storm hits.

Be safe guys. Doesn't look like the storm will be too bad once it gets to you guys, but don't underestimate it.

Isn't it a bad idea to run a generator inside the house? I've charged up my dslr and will be taking pictures of the aftermath. It will smack as around 1am with heavy rains starting at 10pm. So a few hours off, hopefully the fence and this old ass tree in my yard can stand up to it but I don't have a good feeling about this.

We just got big choppy surf when it came by Palm Beach, mild pier damage and a few Darwin Award participants got washed off the jetty in Jupiter but that's it. We only got the feeders tho, eye looked pretty tight.

Wasn't there an Irene in the not too distant past? Sounds way familiar..

judging your location by palm beach (fl) , the last two major storms that hit us were katrina and wilma. we have some kinda force field now that seems to be shooting the storms north. theorists believe a few things: one is that the jet stream has changed or that 'global warming' has caused the shift itself; another theory is that there's a secret organization who somehow made it happen... lol either way all of florida has to be thanking their lucky stars.

True that.. we had to evacuate 3 times that year.. except, ironically, for Katrina.

Well we do have Jupiter Island nearby, but the CIA just relocated to Denver so maybe they're ready to sacrifice the east coast now, heh..

But nah, they only use HAARP for earthquakes and tsunamis Click here to enlarge

Actually Denver doesn't sound like such a bad idea going forward..

    How's Long Island looking, y'all?

Stay safe! There was a guy who went out to feed his livestock, a tree banch fell on him and he died. (Darwin at work?)

Another person was on the road, lost control of the car....ran into a tree, the guy died.

Coming from experience, I lived through all the major hurricanes in florida, best thing to do is make sure you protect your cars. Those are the most vulnerable objects you own in a hurricane. If you live in a house with a garage, dont assume your car is safe in there. Sometimes the best place to put your car is inbetween two buildings (if you can find a place like that) or leave your expensive car in someone elses building garage and keep your beater in your garage.

Also, make sure you buy lots of fuel because gas stations are the first place people go before and after a storm. Also youll want to get jugs of water, and beer; lots and lots of beer.
