    335i vs B8 S4

So I finally got some runs in with my buddy who has a B8 S4. I was kind of disappointed with the results, but it shows how quick those S4's are.

    Specs:

    e90 335i 6mt
    230lb passenger and 185lb driver
    JB4 Map 1
    DCI
    VK DP's

    2011 S4 6mt
180lb driver, trunk full of junk
    Stock

    and on to the videos

The auto 335's just seem stronger, even from a roll.

Impressive showing from the S4, I would be disappointed if I was you as well. Aren't they available with a DSG?

That guy gets a tune and pulley and you are toast. The B8 S4 is the best car they have made since the B5 S4.

Stock manual S4 ran nice. Wonder how the dual clutch would have done?

Is your buddy going to mod it? APR is getting some good numbers out the B8 S4.

The s4 wasn't fast, it was more of a showing for a slow 335. Heavy passenger and map 1 boost. So basically stock n54

I agree my car seems very weak. I've felt that way for awhile.WE actually had 45 minute conversation about this after the race because my car on map 1 seems like a stock n54. Funny thing is, I had just put new plugs in 10 minutes before this race. When I had raced him Friday night with my old plugs that were misfiring, and throwing SES lights the results were the kind of better. Map 4 (stock boost) we were dead even. This is all strange to me.

Get rid of the passenger and run map2 since you have downpipes...It will definitely help.

No leaks / loss of pressure in the intake that would explain this?

Nope. I have a log from Sunday before I changed plugs. Map 1 is 15psi tapering to 12psi, which I found odd as well.

    6 speed manual E90 335i with JB4 vs. stock B8 Audi S4 manual

This was quite interesting to see. BimmerBoost members BoostAddict ran a stock B8 S4 in his modified E90 335i with a 6 speed manual. His mod list is as follows: JB4 Map 1, DCI, and VK downpipes. He also had a 230 pound passenger. The 2011 S4 is a 6 speed manual that is completely stock. The runs were certainly closer than BoostAddict expected and the S4 performs well and clearly is a strong car. Looks like the 335 needs some race gas or meth, especially if the S4 owner decides to mod his ride.

i actually watched the vids this time. i was on the phone before. log looks ok, your running 14 psi, with shift spikes of 15, notice how the throttle closes right there. timing could be better. id say get better gas, or a basic meth kit and you'll love your car like you never thought possible

Something isn't right. I have to agree with LM here, a map 1 car with a 230 lbs passenger you might as well have ran him stock.

Not surprising to see at all. B8 S4's are underrated from the factory as well, plus the added tq from the roots style blower will give it a broader tq curve vs a stockish 335i. They typically trap ~108-109 stock with a good driver.

Wow front page, I'm honored lol. Anyway, the race was closer than I expected, but fun none the less. The S4 is strong car for sure. My buddy hasn't decided about mods yet. He already has a modded GTR that he tracks, and this was suppose to be his car he wouldn't touch anything on. I have a feeling he may get a reflash soon as I told him about the gain of the APR stage 2.
