    1M vs M3 CSL @ The Nurburgring

    Some info from the driver

The guy in the CSL has done lots of laps more then 1000 but is no racing driver. I have done about only 80 laps in total or so. But i am racing driver and adapt very fast to new tracks. If i had more laps under my belt i could go easy under 8 minutes BTG. I really doubt the 7.50 CSL ring time the 1M is pretty close already there no 25 sec difference. Mount some pilot sport cups on the 1M and there is not much in it.

I was driving in M mode and DSC off. Everything else was off factory.

The seats don t give enough support on track and you still sitting to high in car. On long journey s to the ring the seats are perfect. So it s all compromise. And you can swap seats for race shells seats easily if you wish.

    The M3 CSL has:

    Rollcage
pilots sport cups on 18 inch wheels
    Better coil over suspension
    Big brakes
    race seats and harness
    Titan exhaust with race cats

Video really tells you nothing. Just some guys having fun on the ring.

Sport Auto tested both cars, 1M is 25 seconds slower around the ring.

Official Sport Auto ring times are:

    M3 CSL - 7:50
    BMW 1M Coupe - 8:15

All I saw was the GT3 catch, pass and then walk away from them both. I love that GT3!

Meanwhile, 2 cars having fun... Not much to read into that one!

The guy in the 1M almost did it in less than 8:00. That tell you how much the Sport Auto Times are worth.

Actually he did a "BTG" lap in 8 minutes, which is a configuration that is about 20 seconds shorter than the full track. So he's about 5 seconds off Sport Auto's Horst Van Saurma's time, a ring LEGEND.

This video is grossly mis-leading but great ear candy.
Sport Auto is arguably the MOST reputable car testing magazine/organization in the ENTIRE world. There's no denying the time difference of about 22-25 seconds between the two. It's not hype, the CSL does get around that much quicker on this high speed track. However, it would be more like 12-15 seconds if the 1M had R compound tires like the CSL. A marginal differenceon on an almost 8 minute a lap track.

CSL's with similar mods to this one and an actual driver are in the 7:30's. I believe the "team loaded" car did 7:3x with BBK, bolt on's and some weight reduction.

The two cars are similar but with a similar constant (driver) the CSL in the video would be out of sight very quickly

Exactly, if it was same driver the CSL time would be lower as it is. In the video it seems like the 1m is about to pass him on the turns and on the straight aways the CSL just pulls on it.

that "Loaded " car is supercharged. I'd rather believe the driver of that 1M his comment then yours. You made a fuss about it on E90 post and now you do it here.

The loaded car was not as loaded at one point. And posting videos/documenting times etc. This I followed, and the media proof was all over forums several years ago.

I made valid points. Of course the 1-turbo nut huggers are going to get there feelings hurt. Some of his claims are completely wack and he is accusing reputable organizations of being liars at the expense of them. Horst Van Saurma a liar, O.K man HAH, i'm going to respect you now.

It seems to me that the only ones with hurt feelings are M3 drivers.
