    RennTech C63 standing mile numbers

Renntech claims their various aerodynamic changes accounted for a 9 mph increase.

They hit 185 mph at the mile event at the Dade-Collier airstrip..

EDIT: 185 was on in car GPS, they hit 180 MPH on radar.

I don't think it is putting down 490 if it made that big of a jump...

They are going by the GPS figure it seems.

The Radar read out was 180 mph.

490 whp is not getting you 185 mph, slip readout, not GPS.

Plus, I don't think I have seen as much as a 5 mph disparity... does that seem odd? They were going by their own GPS, right? So how did they know exactly when they crossed what the readout was? Just seems like more of a educated guess.

The car ran 176mph without the aero aids. 185-9=176, which is 4.7mph slower than Keith ran and 4mph faster than Jim ran with just a v3 CDT tune from us.

Honestly I think that was purely an exercise in futility. Obviously no one would ever drive around with a car that looked like that, ROFL, did they want the record that bad? LOL. We'll take it back with cams and no aero BS next mile run. All motor.

    Thanks

I'd like to know if it was a VBox or exactly what kind of GPS device was used. We posted Keith's 180.73 VBox mile run results for everyone to see, it would be nice if they did the same.

    They won't do that.

I have no idea what GPS they are using but clearly the 185 mph was misleading.

My only gripe with their standing mile events is gutting the car down to 3295 w/out driver. No interior door panels, etc. All our cars run at full race weight 4010-4150lbs with driver. Yanking 300lbs out of one would have a DRAMATIC impact on performance to say the least.

FYI I was at this event with the JLTurbo guys (TT Z06) and I remember seeing the Renntech cars (C63 and a CL too). Both cars had full interior - I did not recognize anything out of place at all. As far as GPS, one car (may have been the one with the aero) had at least one Garmin color GPS mounted. It was also a windy day, crosswind if I remember right.

The ~490 number was one event in 2009 where it did 176 (radar), the event referred to in this thread (and video) was almost 6 months later into 2010 after more R&D (possibly more power) plus aero mods where it went 180 officially on radar (4mph increase by my maths). And possibly different weather conditions.

In addition, publicized Cd of CTS-V is .36 and a stock C63 is .32 so it already has the advantage there before aero mods.

I was there that day with my ex '06-E46 M3. The timing equipment for the organizer was not accurate, but those who had a Racelogic GPS Vbox that day, I would trust that more than the radar. On 2nd pic you can see the hot shoe driver =)
