Kawasaki sent greenhulk.net some press information on the new 300X monster that's loaded with tech info so I wanted to share it with you guys here.
To me is the most impressive feature is the new Eaton TVS supercharger with 17lb's of boost. This is the same brand supercharger that's used on blown nitro cars, Cadillac CTS-V, Ford Shelby GT 500 and the 2010 Audi S4 just to name a few.
The new TVS (twin vortices series) supercharger uses twin four lobe rotors to produce a continues delivery of air for smoother throttle response and a significant increase in performance. The superchargers output volume is 2019.3cc per engine revolution.
The rotors are coated to prevent galling by rotor to case contact during initial start up. The dark gray coating wears to mate the rotors to the case allowing tighter clearances.
The supercharger gear set increases supercharger speed by a ratio of 2.1:1 and utilizes a rubber damper to reduce drive line shock and vibration. The transmission case is filled with Nye605 oil.
Fogging the engine is made easy as the supercharger has a fogging oil service port built in. Just inject fogging oil for 10 seconds while the engine is at idle.
The new 300X features a newly designed supercharger automatic belt tensioner which requires no maintenance or special tools.
It also features dedicated intercooler discharge lines along with a flush port to help the intercooler maintain peak performance.
The newly designed intake manifold is maye from Polyamide Nylone for extreme durability and less vibration on sensors. This intake manifold also reduces weight by 5.7 lbs and uses a new O-ring manifold seal.
The engine features new exhaust valves with a stem diameter (at head) which is increased from 5.3 to 6.3mm. The valve head support has increased in size from 39 to 47mm.
The engine features an upgraded cooling system which changes the water jacket volume from 56.5 to 20mm which prevents overcooling at low engine RPM (5000 RPM and below)
The crankshaft end has changed to allow the rotor to attach via a spline. Previously this was attached with a taper. The engine cases are rib reinforced to handle the increase in power.
The engine also has an upgraded oil cooler which ensures sufficient cooling at high RPM. The oil cooler is now thermostatically controlled which controls oil flow to decrease warm up time.
The skis feature an upgraded driveline coupler which provides additional strength to handle the increased power output. Thread sizes on the coupler have increased from M24 to M30.
The ski features a new larger diameter pump which increases thrust by 244 lbs.
Pump diameter has increased from 155 to 160mm and the guide vanes are thicker for increased durability.
The new pump has a double bearing driveshaft support with new shaft nut. The nut stops the shaft from moving forward.
The newly designed steering nozzle is 20mm shorter than the ultra 260 and reduces from 91mm to 88mm.
The new pump impeller has a newly designed leading edge which helps hook up and keeps cavitation to a minimum. The trailing edge is flat to maximize pressure through the pump guide vanes (same as a 260X) Blade surface has increased from 11.5 to 13.0 in per blade.
