I'm a fan of the Dell XPS series.

I could sell you my old XPS maybe? Don't need it since I got a new laptop.

Thanks buddy, but i want to get something ASAP maybe tomorrow.
XPS is a great series of laptops, they are tough built but i think the whole series is kind of outdated.

You can't go wrong with DELL XPS, they've gotten better since they bought Alienware and you don't want have pay Alienware prices. I personally like the Dell XPS 17

Dell allways has a delivery time since they have no stores and make your PC the day you order it. It then off course has to ship the PC they make. That is the delay.
If you want a laptop tomorrow there are a few good options to choose from.
Toshiba, HP and Sony all make good choices. I would stay clear of Acer, I have bad experience with them.
Know what you want for screen size / resolution. Most laptops are 1080p res now, so 15"is hardly workable for that resolution.
Take at least 8Gb RAM, a 64bits W7 prof. OS, and a i7 CPU. That would sort out most basic needs.
Mind you, the GHz race from a sweetpoint is very expensive for max 10% gain. Choose wisely.
Look at possible periferals. HDMI, displayport, USB3. Are there needs you need to adress, and does the laptop you choose have them?
SSD HDU are fast booting devices, but expensive and mostly limited to 256Gb.
Is that enough storage or do you need more (can be solved with external USB device)
Graphic GPU on board is important if you use the laptop for games as well.
Faster graphics and faster CPU makes for less battery life. Buy a second battery if possible.

Sony is over priced, under powered, and uses a lot of proprietary stuff. Yuck.

Any Dell really. I would take any Dell of identical spec to any Sony of identical spec. Sony laptops are usually all styled out but rocking 6 month old tech.

Thank you guys for the responses, I appreciate it.
about Dell as David say they always have a long delivery time, I would pay more for a already made Dell but it's not available at least with the specs I'm looking for.
Sony laptops are usually all styled out but rocking 6 month old tech.
what do you say about Z-series ? is it as reliable as XPS ?

How do you lose a laptop?

And, since I got a Macbook Pro, I will not use a PC. They are not cheap though.
