I think I'm going to be going broke soon...Click here to enlarge

Went to play 18 holes went my brother and friend, pretty much perfect weather - my first time on the course. Damn good fun I must say, even though I did terrible. Closest I got to a par 5 was 6, mainly 7s,8s, and a few 10s Click here to enlarge

Anyone here play? I'm going to be going quite a bit more now....twilight hours only $23 (includes cart) Pretty good course too! (Great wood)

Took my camera but you can't enjoy the beautiful scenery by taking pictures...here was one though.

I thought Golf was pretty interesting when it was about Tigers personal life and not about watching guys chase a little white ball around.

But seriously, I would like to learn how to play.

I might take a few months to get the hang of it, but once you learn...you'll go broke, fast.

    +1

It was almost unbearable to watch yesterday - he certainly didn't get any breaks.
Oh well, maybe the best that can come out of this year's Masters is that Tiger's confidence improves.
I'd like to see him play a blinder today and be 2nd or 3rd.

Unless McIlroy feels the heat today and pulls a 'Greg Norman', he's probably heading for glory.

What I don't understand is why everyone wants Tiger to "get back" so to speak? Guy had it all and blew it. It seems to be mental.

I hate that we were fed a certain image of him when in reality the guy wasn't some honorable family man but screwing everything in site. Who knows what else he was up to, I guess I just can't stand how fake he was.

Yeah, his personal life was a bit screwy, but meh, I just wish he'd play like his old self. Guy has 4 master's jackets....says something right there. He was -10, he needed a -14 to tie with 1st....so that's about as good as it gets for him.

WTF happened to Rory Mcilroy? He went from -11 to -4. I guess the pressure got to him. Hella talented kid, he's 21.

He unraveled. I actually found myself watching gold and enjoying it for the first time ever I think. I thought tiger had a shot until he missed the put on that par 5 at the end.

Sucks for Rory, but he has his whole future ahead of him.

Definitely agree. I have to say this was probably one of the most exciting Master's I've watched, granted I just got into golf and it's my first but still!

I would rather prod my testicles with a rusty ice pick rather than watch golf usually, but this Masters was surprisingly entertaining. I even feel like playing some real golf now.

Have you ever been to a driving range? Just pick up a driver from Sports authority/academy for like 30$ and start practicing, sure you'll probably hit the ground a few times, even get frustrated, but once you find that sweet spot and see that ball fly 200 yards...it feels damn good.

simple, because when he plays good he is the best player in golf and theres not anyone better to watch when he's on
i love watching him take huge rips down the fairway or watching him stick it close many times or making those huge puts
did you see the cut he hit from the tree line i think on 17 on saturday and he stuck it? omg guys amazing

I think other golfers need to come up to challenge, to hell with Tiger.

Since it looks like we have a good crowd here, how much is your set of clubs?

Considering I don't have one yet, I can't say, but I'll probably spend ~$100 on the first set, then gradually upgrade everything piece by piece.

Guys - you really appreciate it when you're actually at a tourny - really is no atmosphere like it.

    a couple of tips:

    1) golf goes against every natural instinct you have. Swinging soft is better than swinging hard and most of the time, shorter is better than longer.
    2) short game and putting is where you'll make up most of your strokes - work on that first and your swing will come along much faster than if you start with driver (cliche "drive for show, putt for doe"
    3) your putter should be your most expensive club (it's the one you use the most every round)
    4) Get a "starter" set for the least amount of money that "feels" good to you - you won't even begin to appreciate the better clubs for another couple of years
    5) if you're an ex baseball player (don't have to be a professional) watch you're lead knee that's use to lifting off the ground but is now stationary
    6) Have fun! The vast majority of people who say they are "good" really suck and cheat their asses off.....

PS - I remember watching that Carlin skit as a kid - loved it then - still do....

Dick's sporting goods or Sports Authority. If you can get away with waiting - they usually have crazy sales at the end of the season. They may even have last years stock for less now. I would really advise going in and swinging a couple of different brands. You'll find that looks do matter to you (top of the club face when it's addressing the ball) and you're feel is probably going to be limited to "how heavy" or "light" the clubs feel in your hands...Don't worry too much about grips (the first thing I do with a new set is put new "custom" grips on). . .
