Advantage: we rarely pay for fancy dinner nowadays except for the tips. When you travel, it's automatically covered with insurance (if you buy the tickets using Amex card of course). I get free stuff from Amex all the times (the Bose portable speaker, iPod for kids, etc.).
When you buy gadgets using Amex, if you drop the thing in the toilet within 30 or 90 days I forgot which one, they will send you the new one for nil :-) I dropped my Samsung tablet and broke the screen, they sent me a new one.
Those just a few examples using points you earned by paying all expenses using Amex then pay it off every month. Kinda miss consulting life now as I used to rack up points quickly! Oh well, you can't have it all :-) "
