Yeah that be nice! I'm still curious to how much louder the aluminum flywheel would have been. Hope I don't get a chance to try it for myself. This clutch hopefully does just as good as the oem one. Lol "

" My goal is to use this as a learning experience to learn about engine tuning as well as being a fun, one of a kind project. I'm graduating with my degree in mechanical engineering this semester so I want a project to keep my brain busy while I'm out of school. This being said, I too see potential in the n54 and would love to get this swapped into another chassis and move forward with bigger turbos and maybe one day get into building the motor.

Is the OEM ecu usable in another chassis? From my understanding it just hasn't been figured out quite yet, hence the need for a stand alone tune. "

" Hmmm very interesting, I'm personally not very well versed in standalone systems, and have only ever heard of one person using one and it still wasn't "standalone".

I'll be honest, IMO there would be better options for engines to swap into a project car. Not saying the N54 isn't great or doesn't have potential, but until it's figured out and there are proven options out there with proven power capabilities I just don't see it as the best option. S54 would be seem like a better option to me.

However, if you were to use the N54 right now I'd be looking at MOTEC.

Oh, yeah you could also just use the OEM ECU lol. It is an extremely powerful unit and tuning seems to be going quite well with it thus far, and it's only getting better. "

@singletrack I absolutely love the interior of my E92, I really don't understand why it was apparently reviewed not so well relative to its competitors, I personally love it. I like it a lot better than the F body 3 series myself. 5 series is better, but really not a fan of current 3 series at all. "

I usually slip it out so that the car launches without bogging but without burning the clutch either.

Getting started is definitely the hardest thing with this clutch. I think you're right you either go in or out if you keep going back and forth and feathering it will stall which keeps happening to me. I'm finding that I just have to rev more than I normally would then let the clutch out at a moderate pace
yup, your getting the hang of it already. don't feather! its either in or out lol its quite nice once you get used to it and i swapped out the clutch stop on mine

your going to love that clutch after leg day at the gym "

More to do with all the expectations around it (everyone is excited to see it drop some crazy numbers). But, like you said, there is always next time. Hope to see it do some damage then.

" Very interesting concept. Does not appeal to me personally, but very interesting. Imagine this would be a big seller in both China (especially) and the US.

I especially like the simplicity of the interior vs where BMW is right now with the current 3 series - too busy. E9x is perhaps too simple for most. "

" Akrapovic will clean this up and make it sound bassy and powerful. They are making the optional M exhaust right? We need to hear that.

When I swapped the front section on my S65, it sounded like a Civic at low RPM at light load with the stock rear section. Added the Akra and it sounds amazing now and still has a staccato at higher RPMs. "

ROFL! The S65 is the best sounding V8 outside Maranello my friend...fitted with a proper exhaust. "

mrbillytalent created the thread Megasquirt experience.
" Has anyone ever used this engine management before? I am looking into putting an n54 into something fun and have read too many horror stories with the immobilizer and swapping over other modules, so I'm looking into the possibility of standalone tuning an n54. I'm pretty sure there is a Megasquirt unit that can handle direct injection, however if need be it might just be easier to switch over to port injection
(which could save me troubles when moving on to single turbos).

Has anyone done this before?
Am I insane?

I appreciate your guys' help, I hope to one day be a big part of this community as well! "
