If you say yes to something, own it. If you bought into the presentation, own it. If not, then meet in the middle somewhere for a partial refund of some kind. In theory, as the merchant and knowing all the tricks, I could stand on your money, watch you chargeback, represent the transaction, and get my money. Utilizing an aggregator account I could withstand upwards of 10% chargeback ratio. This means I could fuck with virtually ever person who wanted to give me shit and you may get an initial credit in your account, but if you pissed me off, I could beat you even if you didn't get shit from me and drag it out forever. So be nice to the merchant, if they know how merchant processing works, you'll soon realize your visa/mc/discover get bogged down in the dispute crap and really don't care. American Express on the other hand live in a different world. You can pretty much chargeback up to 12-18 months and they don't really care what proof you've got. Customer will win 70% of the time.
This whole thing of people thinking they can charge everything back and get their money is a myth when you're dealing with a merchant who actually understand retention and deal with the banks daily. Many people that think they can just call their ban kand get their money don't realize that the merchant is just giving up in most cases. For smaller merchants, you are essentially REQUIRED to fight the chargeback once you've received it. Once the chargeback has been received, the damage has been done and you are just as well off losing the dispute 12 months later by continually representing the transaction to the issuing bank. Ultimately, as the customer you'll probably end up reversing the dispute in exchange for the funds refunded. Amex is the exception here, which is why many people do not accept them and I advise no one to accept them. Thats also why I have 3 american express cards. "
