" APR released their Stage I ECU tune software for the new MKVII Volkswagen GTI last week
. The software showed some very impressive gains on the dyno and APR provided VBOX acceleration data as well. GPS performance meter testing is great but we obviously like to see 1/4 mile dragstrip numbers in addition and APR has now provided a set of timeslips. The stock 2015 DSG MKVII GTI runs a 14.283 @ 97.10 in the 1/4 mile on 93 octane pump gas.
That is with full weight and a density altitude of 1823 feet. Obviously summer weather is not going to produce record times but that is a great baseline especially for that density altitude. With just a change in the software alone the GTI runs a best elapsed time of 13.189 seconds and a best trap speed of 110.40 is achieved.
The 110.40 trap speed comes on the worse elapsed time of 13.223 and the 13.189 run has a 107.95 trap speed. Regardless, it looks like 108-110 is about the range for a 93 octane pump gas tuned MKVII GTI which certainly is impressive. All three timeslips are below.
