Here are the official interior photos that have been released onto the internet of the new 2014 W222 generation S-Class. This following the leak of the official model presentation that Mercedes unsuccessfully tried to get this and other websites to remove. With these latest photos seemingly coming from Mercedes-Benz themselves, safe to say it is way too late to remove anything now. That said, the interior design is simply phenomenal, gorgeous. ...Published on 03-18-2013 10:20 PM
The 2013 Formula 1 season is officially underway after the running of the Australian Grand Prix this pas weekend. The season is off to an interesting start with Kimi Raikkonen and the Lotus team taking the victory. Raikkonen qualified in sixth and what helped was his two stop pit strategy extending his tires quite a bit. Mercedes-AMG showed they can challenge as at point early on Lewish Hamilton and Nico Rosberg led the race 1-2. ...Published on 03-15-2013 02:04 PM
Well this is a bummer. Mercedes seems to make an AMG variant of just about everything in their lineup so the GLK being left out in the cold doesn't make much sense especially with how popular SUV's have become and also performance variants. Audi recently launched the RS Q3 high performance entry level SUV and it seems Mercedes and AMG will not answer with a GLK AMG. They also will ignore competing with the Porsche Macan it seems. ...Published on 03-14-2013 12:21 PM
Here it officially is and what many of you have been waiting for, the Weistec M157 bi-turbo upgrades including upgraded turbos, exhaust, and downpipes. Many of you have already seen the power figures as these upgrades powered the M157 to a new horsepower record with 727 at the wheels and also were seen in real world action at the recent No Fly Zone event showing impressive performance against stout competition including Wesitec's own Stage III M156 supercharger. ...Published on 03-13-2013 10:50 AM
BenzBoost is still trying to wrap its head around this decision. It does not make a whole lot of sense but Mercedes-Benz seems determined to downsize their engines and for the 2015 model year there will be no E550 W212 E-Class sedan. To get a V8 in the E-Class sedan one will have to go for the E63 AMG with the M157 twin turbo V8. The C207 E-Class coupe however will retain the M278 V8 and continue to offer an E550 model in convertible and coupe forms. ...Weistec Stage III+ 1000 horsepower W209 CLK63 AMG Black Series versus SP-Engineering 950R Nissan GTR
Published on 03-12-2013 05:31 PM
Great race here with two heavyweights slugging it out. The Weistec Stage III+ CLK63 AMG Black Series was beating pretty much everything at the No Fly Zone event with the lone exception of this modified GTR. Both cars are very heavily modified and put down somewhere in the 9XX wheel horsepower range. The GTR was running C16 fuel and 30 psi which results in 926 all wheel horsepower as measured on the SP-Engineering Mustang dyno. ...Published on 03-12-2013 09:13 AM
Here is a review of the updated SLS for 2013 which is now known as the SLS GT. The updated SLS gets a horsepower bump to 583 horsepower along with a revised suspension and transmission programming. These changes are good enough for a 5 second improvement around the Nurburgring bringing the laptime down to a very impressive 7:30. The car seems to be significantly lighter as well somehow as Car and Driver states the curb weight is 3,573 pounds. ...Published on 03-11-2013 04:20 PM
The P31 package makes a pretty big difference. A tune on a standard C63 AMG makes a pretty big difference. So how do they both stack up versus each other? Well, the video below illustrates that comparison very well. The camera car is a brand new 2013 C63 AMG with the P31 option (more power, more aggressive tune, forged internals) that is completely stock with only 1000 miles on the clock. The red 2009 C63 sedan has a tune, resonator/cat delete, and filters. ...Published on 03-07-2013 10:24 PM
Oh my, now this is some serious work form Carlsson. No simple body kit and wheels, oh no, this is serious business. Say hello to what Carlsson calls the SLK340 Judd designed to be a hill climb car. And climb hills it will with its 1,720 pound curb weight (not a typo) and a 3.4 liter V8 stuffed under the hood. Carlsson claims 610 horsepower for this 3.4 liter V8. It was built by Judd and apparently this power is naturally aspirated which is incredible. ...Published on 03-06-2013 10:51 AM
More and more videos coming from the No Fly Zone event and this one is particularly telling. The F10 M5 has a twin turbocharged V8 and a dual clutch transmission. The C63 AMG in comparison has a 6.2 liter naturally aspirated V8 with an automatic transmission. Considering the F10 M5 has a large horsepower advantage of almost 100 wheel horsepower due to being underrated and putting down in 5XX wheel horsepower range stock a stock C63 AMG should be easy work for it especially in a half mile race. ...Published on 03-05-2013 02:43 PM
Here is the race many of you have been waiting for from the No Fly Zone event. A modified AMG M156 versus AMG M157 battle. Both cars are Weistec tuned with the C63 Black Series (camera car) having a Weistec Stage III package with the 3.0 liter blower at 11 psi putting down approximately ~650 wheel horsepower with a pump tune but running race gas. The W212 E63 AMG has the Weistec M157 turbo upgrade package which puts down roughly ~730 wheel horsepower on race gas. ...Published on 03-04-2013 10:32 PM
And more and more - No Fly Zone - videos continue to get put up including awesome comparisons such as this one here. The camera car in the video being a new W204 C63 AMG Black Series belonging to a BenzBoost member which has a Stage III 3.0 liter Weistec supercharger system. The blower was pushing 11 psi of boost on a 91 octane pump tune but the car was running race gas. The E92 M3 has an ESS VT2-625 kit and is a DCT car likely also running race gas as race gas jugs are seen in photos around the car. ...Published on 03-04-2013 01:16 AM
Interesting race here from the No Fly Zone event this past weekend. The Mustang is a 2013 model with the 5.0 V8 and is a 6-speed. It has the stock exhaust and features a Paxton 2200SL supercharger. The owner of the Mustang says he was likely close to the 600 wheel horsepower mark. Compare this to the Weistec Stage II which puts out 538 wheel horsepower on 91 octane from a 2.3 liter twin screw blower and the result makes sense. ...Published on 02-28-2013 11:10 PM
Very interesting race between a PP-Performance tuned M157 bi-turbo CLS63 AMG and a Lamborghini LP700-4 Aventador. The run is from a very high speed starting at 150 km/h which is just under 100 miles per hour. The race goes until 180 miles per hour so the cars definitely both stretch their legs. The CLS63 AMG stats out slightly in front and gets the jump on the Aventador. The cars are very closely matched although the Aventador does appear to close the gap a bit. ...Published on 02-26-2013 03:03 PM
Very, very nice results here on an M157 bi-turbo W212 E63 AMG equipped only with a Eurocharged M157 tune. This tune is for a pump gas 91 octane setup so not a high octane race file. The car did however mix in some MS109 race gas which likely gave some timing benefit. 1/4 tank of 91 octane pump gas with 5 gallons of MS109. Filters are K&N just for full disclosure. The result at the Famoso drag strip in California? 11.378@128.26 on street tires. ...Published on 02-26-2013 02:56 AM
Daimler is keeping the same person at the top and not doing any top executive shuffling. Dieter Zetsche (also known as Dr. Z) will remain as Daimler CEO through 2016. There was talk of extending his contract further but due to his age (59) there were apprehensions about extending someone deep into their 60's. Head of research and development of Daimler cars at Thomas Weber also got an extension for the same time period as Zetsche. ...Published on 02-22-2013 08:37 PM
The presentation pictures introducing the next generation 2014 S-Class were leaked out early and Worldcarfans managed to get a hold of them. Interesting to note is that the model designation will be V222 and not W222. For whatever reason Mercedes-Benz is moving up a letter in the alphabet as they probably feel the W numbering system is getting too cluttered. Regardless, here are the details on the upcoming S-Class. ...Published on 02-22-2013 02:35 AM
Here is the Eurocharged tune for the new 63 AMG models with the M157 Twin Turbo V8. The tune retails for a very reasonable $1475 and Eurocharged is having a special until the end of this month lowering the price to an incredible $999. What that money gets you is a very nice bump in horsepower and torque. Wheel horsepower goes up to 617 at the wheels on the fairly conservative Mustang dyno tune only on pump gas. ...Published on 02-20-2013 06:01 PM
Yes, Mercedes-Benz will be bringing an S-Class coupe with the next generation W222 S-Class. The S-Class will no longer be just a sedan but also a coupe and a convertible which was spotted testing last year. The demise of Maybach has made it so that Mercedes-Benz wants to stretch the W222 S-Class platform as much as possible with many different variants. This also means there will be no more CL-Class and that name much like the CLK will be dropped. ...Published on 02-19-2013 07:31 PM
Mercedes-Benz is quite serious about adding 4Matic all wheel drive to its AMG performance lineup. The E63 and CLS63 AMG facelifts bring optional 4Matic all wheel drive to those models. The A45 AMG comes with 4Matic all wheel drive standard. The upcoming CLA45 AMG will also have 4Matic all wheel drive standard. Whether one likes it or not all wheel drive is becoming a staple of the AMG performance division and the next generation C63 is a definitely a possibility. ...
