• Race Video: Tuned CLK550 vs. JB4 335

Well, here we go, finally, we have a race involving BB member blkclk550. After 30+ pages of keybord warfare races took place. Now, we are told the 335 was on a 100 octane map. Blaizon, the 335 owner, said he would run a 93 octane map. The CLK does pretty well seemingly getting the jump each time and holding it. The cars seem pretty evenly matched with the JB4 having a slight top end advantage. The commentary by whomever filmed was humorous but we could do without it. Either way, look at the vids and decide for yourself.

car A has trapped about 110mph, car B beats it by 2-4 mph, the best average of car C is 114-115mph. My math could be fuzzy, i have been doing MOA-Mil equations all weekend though Click here to enlarge
You haven't seen any 1/4 mile times from the CLK man... you are essentially comparing it to a manual JB3 that has run about 111 right?

Let's see them just do the M3 race and that should settle everything.

Nobody has solid aftermarket headers for the M3, they are pretty much perfect from the factory. Bolt on's are tune, exhaust, filter, pulley, that's it. Not sure if he has scoops but hope he does.

nope, there are no companies out there selling headers (except for RDSport I believe, which havent proven much gains at all)....the stock headers have a good design.

i wasnt sure if you were looking to race a stock or modded m3, since I havent been keeping up with the thread at all (sure as hell not all 45 pages of it lol)...but yeah I am FBO M3 DCT

edit: I have RPI scoops as well

^good find. I honestly see exactly where LM is coming from - bc in the N54 scene not one of us on the east coast ever trapped anywhere near the west coast guys. I was a firm beleiver that the M3 was as slow as $#@! (at least, not as fast at people claimed when modded).....but until recently when I starting modding and doing comparo runs with some solid cars, then my mind changed. I guess its a "see it to believe it" type thing.

Im going back in a week or two to get a custom race dynotune by OETuning, so I will let you know when I get that done. But there have been people with my set-up hitting 400whp (like BrenM3), and others.

I wouldnt judge by hp figures though, the DCT tranny is a cheater for sure....you can be putting down significantly more whp in a 6MT and the DCT with less hp will still be right there...

Sounds fair I will be getting my tranny flush and diferential next week, and then following week my true dual is going on. That will bring us to the same Mods. I will be more than happy to run you.

and good find on the 115mph. i think thats accurate for a FBO M3. and being so, is about accurate for the CLK. so i think its a lot closer than many will think.

and yes ERM, thast exactly the reason im doubting, as well as other s65 stories ive eard lately Click here to enlarge

Based on what? Not a single trap speed over 110 yet several above 115 for the M3?

Don't forget this all began with a stock CLK550 supposedly beating M3's...

stock clk550 ran dct M3 from 45 mph roll sweetspot.for the M and not clk we have to be in the 3k where our peak tq is. Clk lost by a car so if.you let clk run from 3k it will pull on dct. That's a roll run dct has latest nch fontroll quick clk doesn't that's why stock clk does 12.8 in 1/4.
