    • How does the 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio stand up to the W205 Mercedes-AMG C63 S Coupe?

There are similarities between these two cars in that they both are rear wheel drive automatics and turbocharged. The C63 S features a much larger 4.0 liter M177 V8 over the Alfa Romeo's F154 2.9 liter V6 but peak output is rated similarly.

EVO decided to compare the two on the track and this type of comparison favors the Alfa Romeo. Why? Well, for one it is lighter. It is also on stickier rubber.

The C63 is more about brute force and muscle than finesse. It is a German muscle car essentially.

On the track this is reflected with the impressions as the Alfa is described as more nimble and better braking. The laptimes do not lie:

      Giulia Quadrifoglio: 1:21.83
      C63 S: 1.23.07

A difference of over a second is pretty large.

The bottom line? If you are into straightline speed and tuning the C63 S is probably your choice. If you are more about handling then the Alfa is the choice. Really, the BMW M4 Competition Package may offer the best of both worlds in this class and it is too bad it was not included.
