    • Pure Turbos W205 C63 AMG M177 V8 turbo upgrade produces over 600 wheel horsepower on 93 octane pump gas

Last month BenzBoost reported that Pure Turbos was working on a turbocharger upgrade for the new 4.0 liter M177 and M178 motors under the hood of the W205 C63 and C190 AMG GT respectively. Well, now we have the results for the M177.

How does 634 horsepower and 608 lb-ft of torque at the wheels sound? On pump fuel no less? No methanol, no E85, just what you can easily run every day.

The other modifications are downpipes and an aftermarket exhaust. That's it.

Considering the heft of the C63 the added torque will be appreciated. Plus, F80 M3's are showing strongly so an M177 turbo upgrade is a good idea for W205 C63 owners who want to easily dispatch tuned competition.

As for the M178 under the hood of the AMG GT, results for that will have to wait for now until someone does the upgrade.

Those runs were made with the " Uncorrected" factor mode. They would all be less than 600whp with SAE correction

You don't know how uncorrected works, do you? Or SAE for that matter?

I wonder what the fuel system limits are?

That is a port injected system so you can't compare it that way.

So far fueling has been pretty solid, initially we had this car on meth with the stock turbos, after the upgrade we've been trying to fab stupid charge pipes, but the fitment is so damn tight, the charge pipes became the biggest part of the project lol. Since we couldn't wait for results we figured to give it a shot without it, logs are nice and clean, power was pretty linear. So I figured maybe give it a little more, and then add the meth on top down the line. Car ran at the track today, same tune as the last dyno session, car ran 10.7 at 134,77. Tried to cheat later on the day and added race gas to see if we could get some effortless horses... car went 10.7 at 133. Really consistent all day long.

We are really happy with the car, logs, dyno, track times and even the switch on fuels without the tune are good pointers to believe car is happy, fuel Trims were pretty good around -5/+5%, timing target is being reached without a problem, so maybe next we will try Racefuel tune and or if the chargepipes ever get finished for the meth, then we can shoot for that 10.5.

Once again, Pure turbos came up with another good piece, that besides being easy to control, resolves that lazy top end, that seems to be characteristic on this news AMG and let the engine breath on top, where they normally get restricted by the OEM turbos.

Excuse my lack of attention, I have quite a few similar time slips, late night I did confused the trap speeds, happens that couple other 10.7 slips on my phone from others car we took down yesterday also. Let me make the correction. but here are the correct times. And of course thanks for the observation and apologize for the mistake

        -10.738 at 131.10
        -10.739 at 131.77
        -10.723 at 131.09

there is 2-3 more slips in between those, but the first two are first two passes and then 3rd is last pass.
