The supercharged M113K V8 55 AMG's are a great value on the used market today. This car was once over $100,000.00 and now can be picked up in the ~$20,000.00 range depending on mileage. The cars do not exactly hold their value but that is a good thing for today's buyers as the vehicles are a Mercedes tuning value especially when compared to the newer M157 twin turbo V8 based AMG's. The supercharged V8 responds very well to modifications as the dynographs below show. ...Published on 03-01-2014 02:21 PM
Great results here from a PP-Performance (Jimmy Pelka) tuned Mercedes-Benz C218 CLS63 AMG. The car is on stock turbochargers (with catless downpipes) making the elapsed time and trap speed very impressive. A 10.678 @ 135.5 miles per hour (218.07 kph) is the quickest and fastest recorded timeslip for a stock turbo M157 twin turbo V8 Mercedes. This run took place at the Yas Marina dragsrip which is located in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. ...Published on 03-01-2014 10:40 AM
The 996 Turbo you will see in the videos below has the X50 option. What this option provided was larger K24 turbochargers over the standard K16 turbochargers the 996 Turbo comes with. These are the same turbos used on the 996 GT2 and they also came standard on the 996 Turbo S. Essentially, they allow larger tune only power and torque gains than the K16's. This Turbo is tuned by GIAC and also featured Forge Motorsport Wastegates and an IPD intake plenum. ...Published on 02-28-2014 09:50 AM
Two different AMG motors here with different philosophies at play. The M156 in the previous generation 63 AMG models should be well known to everyone by now coming in naturally aspirated form with a displacement of 6.2 liters and revving to 7200 rpm. The M157 V8 is the new breed of motor from AMG going down in size to 'only' 5.5 liters and adding direct fuel injection as well as two turbochargers. This is a battle of the previous generation motor 63 AMG motor versus the current generation 63 AMG motor. ...Published on 02-27-2014 08:10 AM
Yesterday a video was posted showing a Porsche 997.2 Turbo running various cars from a roll. One of those cars was a Renntech tuned 2013 E63 AMG. The run shows the PDK Turbo edging the E63 in the race although the E63 is coming back strong up top. The run was posted from the 911 Turbo's perspective. The rematch was conveniently omitted from the compilation but fortunately the E63 owner had his own video and posted it. ...Published on 02-25-2014 10:58 PM
This is a compilation video showing multiple runs at a recent 1/3 mile roll on event. Due to the event being 1/3 mile the shift speed of dual clutch cars definitely favor them in such a scenario. Shift speed is the advantage of the transmission and it shows. This 997.2 Turbo is equipped with a GIAC tune and an aftermarket intake plenum. Wheel horsepower is approximately 530 horsepower on a Mustang dyno. This GIAC tune has powered 997.2 Turbos into the 9's in the 1/4 mile. ...Published on 02-25-2014 09:20 PM
The war is officially in full swing. The first battles will be fought by tuned cars until the S63TU in the M5/M6 gets a reliable turbocharger upgrade option. Here we have exactly such a battle with an F10 M5 with an ETG tune, AMS catless downpipes, and a catback exhaust claiming 650 horsepower to the wheels versus a Renntech tuned E63 AMG with aftermarket filters claiming 624 horsepower to the wheels. ...
