Sorry to give you pictures of the motor in bits and pieces like this, but they are hard to come by. Earlier this month we showed a low resolution picture of the motor. It was the best we had, until now. We have a high resolution side profile shot of the motor revealing some more details. Does not seem to be too large of a turbo sitting in there. ...

Yes, the video is in German. If you can get past that, it is pretty good and worth watching as they drag race the X5 M vs. the Cayenne turbo, (skip to 2:47). The X5 M gets a jump on the Cayenne Turbo yet the Cayenne still pulls past it up top. They are pretty evenly matched despite the X5 M having a power advantage on paper but the current Cayenne is much lighter. The X5 M's weight simply works against it. We must say, Porsche did the smart thing working to make the Cayenne lighter. ...

Mazdaspeed6 had his RB turbo upgrade on his 335 dyno'd and here on the results on 93 octane. Supporting mods are cp-e exhaust, raceland dp's, ams fmic, cp-e chargepipe, bms dci, and a JB4. In his words:

Hey guys, I just got the drf files in.. Heres the story, I ran 100 percent meth a few months ago and killed my flow sensor so I am waiting for a new one. Let's be honest, the S54 turbo scene has been dominated by Horsepower Freaks. That is not necesassrily a bad thing as they are a high quality option. However, there have not been any tuning options for those wanting to do their own turbo kit or perhaps go in a different direction. Well, ProEFI may be shaking things up considerably. ProEFI has released some initial details of their E46 M3 turbo setup using the Pro128 computer. ...

All this time we were under the impression the F10 M5 would be getting a DCT gearbox. BMW apparently tried to get the M DCT supplied by Getrag to work but stronger actuators were necessary which slowed down the response time. Motortrend is now stating the car will be auto only. Uh, BMW, this is an M car, not M SUV. We understand why the X5 M and X6 M have autos, but the M5? No manual option? What the hell is going on? ...

OE Tuning recently completed a custom dyno tune on a 2002 E46 330i. These gains are seen on 91 octane pump gas. In addition, the car is completely stock other than the tune. Torque gains are seen throughout the curve as well as considerable gains down low in the rev range. The car gains almost 20 pound-feet at the wheels at peak. Pricing information to be available shortly. ...

The German publication Auto Motor Und Sport is reporting that BMW is working on a van. This would likely compete with the Mercedes R-Class. Rumor is BMW intends to call it the "Advanced Family Sports Activity Tourer" which is BMW speak for van. The name boils down to AFAST for short, as in, a fast way way to alienate your dedicated fans. We don't know what to think, guess we will have to wait for the M version... just kidding, maybe. ...

We have a video from Bahrain showing an X6 M with eisenmann race exhaust on MS109 vs. an N54 135i with an AR Design downpipe. The X6 M traps 1 mph higher and also gets a better ET. A bit of a surprising result considering the X6 M is not even running an aftermarket tune. ...

We just received these videos of an HPF turbo M3 which lost control at the Irwindale 1/8 mile strip and ended up going into the wall. The car looks like it is running bias-ply slicks with radial street tires up front. This may have contributed to the driver losing control as the general rule is not to mix due to instability up top. Additionally, once the car starts to sway it looks like the owner stays in it and then tried to brake too late which causes him to lose it. Hopefully we will have more details on the car and the setup soon. ...

BMW is set on releasing an all electric car. You may remember BMW released a test program featuring an electric Mini (Mini E) and this is now the next step. This is the test bed for the electric system which will serve as the underpinnings of the Megacity Vehicle. The ActiveE has 170 horsepower and a range of approximately 100 miles on special low resistance tires. The range may improve in the lighter Megacity Vehicle. The battery is fully charged in 4 to 5 hours and BMW plans on leasing 1,000 of these ActiveE's beginning in the fall. Good for you BMW, can we have our Z4 M now? ...

As of March 2011, this option will be available for all X6 models except the hybrid. The extra seat naturally replaces rear center storage compartment. There are also new wheel options being rolled out as well but the 5 seat option is something that should have been available to begin with. About time BMW, and we figure this is going to be a popular retrofit for X6 owners. ...

First of, congratulations. Closing in on 1k hp at the wheels with an HPF Stage 4 setup is no small feat. Horsepowerfreaks has been advertising this as 970 whp which is what the car did put down uncorrected. The SAE corrected numbers are 925 whp and what we will go with. This car belongs to someone named Jason and it is a very, very impressive car. ...

The vast majority of BMW blogs and sites on the net posted pictures of the N20 sitting in an engine bay with a plastic cover. That did not do much for us to be able to see the actual motor. Well, a shot of the motor has surfaced that also reveals the size of the intercooler. This is all we have so far but we are hoping more photos and details of the motor will surface soon. ...
