      The BMW N62 does not get a lot of love. Unlike the M62 the N62 features Valvetronic which posed somewhat of a challenge for forced induction kits not to mention it was not produced as much or for as long as the M62 V8 that preceded it. The N62 simply got and continues to get a lot less attention. Regardless, N62 owners such as those with a 2006-2008 E65 750i have a great tuning option from OE Tuning producing very nice gains at the wheels. ...

      Congratulations to BimmerBoost member Ricky (ERM324) who set a new S65 V8 trap speed record at the ATCO drag strip in New Jersey this past Sunday. The E92 M3 has a dual clutch transmission and was run on 100 octane with drag radials and a Gintani full exhaust. The 60 foot on the record trap run was 2.148 (the DCT is very finicky to launch) which means there is plenty of room to improve the ET and this is most definitely a 10 second car with a good launch. ...

      Well, here it is, an E46 M3 in the 10's in the United States. To note, an E46 in Sweden did run 10.71 but that was not a strip with NHRA approved timing equipment. Regardless, this is the first true 10 second M3 in the USA with a 10.89@141. Tuning was handled by ProEFI and the hardware was built by Saad Racing. This breaks the record HPF held but we expect this record to be retaken by HPF shortly. Of note, this is a full interior street car. ...

      Here is Hamann's widebody F10 M5 body kit. In addition to the body work, Hamann claims to have tuned the car to 720 horsepower. We hate when Hamann releases these claimed numbers without dyno graphs or acceleration numbers to back them up. Hey, they are a big name and can get away with it but this kind of thing would never fly with US tuners. The widebody itself is not bad but they of course had to go and throw LED's in the front bumper which kind of cheapen the image of the car. ...

      Well just as the N20 powered 328i is right on the E36 M3's heels the N55 335i is right on the E46 M3's heels. Motortrend hit 13.3@103.9 in the 1/4 mile which certainly is respectable. It does not really offer much of anything on the previous N54 powered 335's and is not as good of a tuner platform right now but hopefully that changes. BMW continues to rate the motor at 300 horsepower in the F30 so the underrating trend continues. ...

      BimmerBoost member LostMarine met up at the ATCO dragstrip in New Jersey for some fun runs and a comparison with a manual M3. The blue E90 is a manual and the black E92 M3 is a DCT. Videos are from inside the E92 M3. Both cars have similar modifications with airfilters, Turner Motorsport test pipes, and mods to the OEM exhaust system.       When we first heard about these upcoming triple turbo motors from BMW many of us scratched our heads wondering exactly how they would work. Rumors abounded. Two gas turbos and an electric turbo? A compound turbo setup? Well, this video should clear things up and explain how BMW is able to hit 381 horses and 546 pound-feet of torque in a production 3.0 liter diesel six cylinder. To have so much technology (like 3 variable turbine geometry turbos set to come on and supplement each other at different rpm ranges) not make it to the United States makes us want to cry. BMW did not accidentally have this happen while the X5 M was racing the M3 on the track. They chose a legendary Motorsport moment to mimic for a reason.       Here is the new M135i. The vehicle will be powered by the N55 single turbo six cylinder and have over 300 horsepower. How much over? Well, we expect it to be right around the same range with its crank rating as the BMW 1M. What it puts out to the wheels will be interesting to see. It will make its official debut in Geneva next month. Another interesting tidbit is that it will likely have an all wheel drive option when it goes on sale in Europe in July.       This is not a new comparison as it was done previously with the F10 528. Now time to see how far the N20 has raised the entry level (in the USA) 3 series game. Just by how much does it do that? Well, Insideline compared the 2010 3.0 liter N52 naturally aspirated six cylinder powered 328i to the new 2.0 liter N20 turbo four cylinder and the results are not all that surprising. The N20 328i ran the 1/4 mile in 14.1@98.9. The N52 328i ran the 1/4 mile in 14.7@94.8, fairly large difference for two motors rated at almost the same horsepower (240 for the N20 vs. 230 for the N52). ...

      The N54 had been stuck in a bit of a rut. There were upgraded turbo options out there but these were relegated to small twins often utilizing the stock housing. A large single turbo simply was necessary to take it to the next level. All the previous attempts at large single turbos had been abandoned. Vishnu showed it is in fact possible and at 22.5 PSI with 94 octane fuel and meth broke the 600 wheel horsepower barrier with a very impressive run hitting 626 although the graph was uncorrected. ...

      Why do people keep comparing the M5 to the GT-R? It is idiotic. We said as much when Autocar did it a few weeks ago. First, Mr. Harris starts with bagging on the E60 M5. The SMG III gearbox was really that confusing for him? The miles per gallon were an issue? It's a 5.0 liter V10 that revs to over 8000 RPM. Gallardo owners are not complaining about their MPG and neither was anyone who could afford an M5. The new F10 M5 is not going to be a Prius with its 17/22 MPG. Frankly, the fuel economy hit of the E60 M5 is worth it when you consider it does not need fake engine noise piped into the cabin. ...

      S85 V10 supercharger kits have lagged pretty far behind S65 development despite the V10 making its debut well before the V8. There are several reasons for this but the supercharged V10's are starting to come into their own. RPI refers to this setup as a Stage III and we are not exactly sure what that means. Higher boost most definitely but what else? Meth? Race gas tune? What fuel was used for the dyno runs and what boost? Why are these details missing? ...
