The BMW X4 which was officially confirmed for production in a press release just a couple weeks ago is already ready to be shown to the world as a concept car as BMW often does displaying the design before the official production model is ready. Well, here it is, and basically it just looks like a smaller X6 although with updates headlights and taillights. The front and rear of the car look pretty good with the rear getting some inspiration from the 4-Series concept. ...Published on 04-03-2013 11:01 PM
This is quite simply awesome. Roland Sands is a former motorcycle racer who once he finished racing struggled to fill the void in his life. Well, he created Roland Sands Design and took the passion he had for racing and applied that energy toward designing bikes. His latest design happened to be based on a BMW S1000RR and the result is quite simply badass. MotorTrend featured this bike in their latest episode of On Two Wheels. ...Published on 04-02-2013 07:21 PM
Here is the RDsport exhaust for the F10 M5 with the S63TU V8. This is a full exhaust system going all the way from the turbos back with downpipes, x-pipe, and a rear section. The system looks pretty good, not the prettiest BimmerBoost has seen, but the appearance is solid. The pricing on it does not make it much of a value with retail at $8,028.00 with an estimated 8 hour install. 8 hours to install this? Really? How many breaks is that guy taking? ...Published on 04-01-2013 01:51 PM
The new 4-Series in production form for the F32 coupe has been posted thanks to leaks which has led to production based renderings of the upcoming F33 convertible/cabriolet version. The F33 convertible is going to come four months after the F32 coupe with production scheduled to start in November of this year. Unlike the F32 the F33 will be available only in rear wheel drive form for the 428i and 435i, no X-drive all wheel drive. ...Published on 03-31-2013 02:01 PM
Here is another BMW M Performance Power Kit from BMW which really amounts to a quick cash grab. Basically BMW just gives you different software they already have sitting around for an extra $1100 plus installation which is something dealers are going to love. Horsepower goes up from 300 to 320 horses and automatic models gain 32 pound-feet of torque while manual models get only a 17 pound-feet of torque increase for a total of 317. ...Published on 03-29-2013 11:33 AM
Great run here showing an E82 135i with upgraded turbos, full bolt ons, Alpina trans flash software for the 6-speed automatic transmission, meth injection, and a tune from Bren Tuning against a C5 vette with a built LS6 V8. The 135i makes easy work of the C5 from a roll that is stated to have a built motor although what it is putting out is not reavealed. A built LS6 V8 without any forced induction won't have many advantages other than that of longevity over a stock LS6 with the same modifications. ...Published on 03-27-2013 06:11 PM
This is a rather interesting development in the turbocharger market. Mann+Hummel worked with BMW over the past four years to develop a functioning prototype using an N54 turbocharger as the basis for a high grade thermoplastic turbocharger housing. The benefits of high grade plastics in cars are numerous but they are usually applied to body and chassis components and not actually to engine components where strength is at a premium. ...Published on 03-26-2013 03:30 PM
The new F82 M4 (it's still weird to say and BimmerBoost just can't get used to it) seems to be shaping up quite well. The F32 4-Series production design was recently leaked and the basic 4 just did not seem to have much of an aggressive look to it. Well, in comes the F82 M4 version of the 4-Series to remedy that and sure looks the part. The spyphotos below are the clearest yet of the upcoming 2014 M car showing it completing winter testing. ...Published on 03-26-2013 04:22 AM
Great comparison video here showing the difference between the F10 M5 and the F13 M6. Both cars have the exact same dual clutch transmission and 560 horsepower twin turbo 4.4 liter S63TU V8. So what's the main difference between the two? The weight of the cars with the F13 M6 curb weight at 4088 pounds and the F10 M5 curb weight at 4313 as measured on an independent scale. That makes for a difference of 225 pounds. ...Published on 03-26-2013 12:40 AM
This is somewhat cool, somewhat. Basically BMW wants the world drifting record so they intend to get it using a stock F10 M5 with a BMW Performance Driving School instructor (Johan Schwartz) behind the wheel. The current record is apparently 6.95 miles after some confusion which BMW thought it was 3.6 miles. The record belongs to a guy in the UAE who set it at the Yas Marina circuit. So BMW will have their driver attempt to set this record at the Performance Driving School on May 11th. ...Published on 03-22-2013 11:13 PM
Some sphyphotos here of a production ready BMW F32 4-Series coupe. The photos are not the best quality but reveal the production design elements which hold reasonably close to the 4-Series concept. The most glaring changes are the rear bumper which loses the aggressive design of the concept car which everyone obviously realized would be changed for production. The front bumper also loses the integrated LED's. ...Published on 03-22-2013 01:42 AM
Congratulations to Maximum PSI (and tuner NickG of Technique Tuning fame) on what certainly looks like a very solid stock DME tuned turbo kit offering for the E46 M3 S54 inline-6. At 13 psi on the stock motor internals using the full Maximum PSI exhaust system and 100 octane race gas the turbo kit put down 602 wheel horsepower on a dynojet using SAE correction. That's some seriously nice power with race gas and the stock motor using the factory ECU. ...Published on 03-20-2013 08:53 PM
More SUV's (or SAV's as BMW calls them) are coming from BMW which should be no shock to anyone. These are high volume models for BMW so the more variants they can create the better for the bottom line. The new SUV will share the F25 X3 platform and this mains the same drivetrain as well. So, an N55 3.0 liter turbocharged six-cylinder with horsepower in the low to mid 300's and an N20 2.0 liter four-cylinder model for the X4 xDrive28i. ...Published on 03-20-2013 01:20 AM
Vorsteiner is hard at work on the new F10 M5 and will be releases a bunch of parts for the new M5. These include their usual body kit offering which will consist of a front carbon spoiler, carbon diffuser, carbon trunk spoiler, carbon sideblades, and a full carbon trunk. Vorsteiner wheels are included in the renderings below in a size of 22 inches. All Vorsteiner wheels will of course will be available in a variety of sizes just as they currently are. ...Published on 03-19-2013 06:51 PM
Well here are some results for the Vargas Stage III upgrade that has caused the N54 forum section to basically be engaged in chaos for the past few months. From accusations of vaporware, to comparison to single turbo upgrades, to countless other arguments the day has come and the Stage III Vargas Turbo upgrade dyno'd on 91 octane with no meth 572 horsepower to the rear wheels. This is with a Cobb flash tuned by BimmerBoost vendor Pro-Tuning Freaks. ...Published on 03-18-2013 10:41 PM
There will be more than one 4-Series variant with how BMW is attempting to squeeze every model they can out of platforms to increase sales. The (hideous) 3-Series GT was recently revealed and the 4-Series will be getting another variant as well with the F35 4-Series GT. The car is definitely coming as spyphotos were posted as early as August of last year showing the vehicle undergoing testing which means it is close to its completion and reveal. ...Published on 03-15-2013 03:37 PM
Even those these upgrades are "Stage 3" from their respective companies readers need to understand all stages are not created equal. The E46 M3 with the HPF Stage 3 upgrade received a built motor and a larger turbo making for a very significant power upgrade capable of 788 horsepower at the rear wheels. The Weistec Stage 3 supercharger upgrade for the C63 AMG M156 V8 on the other hand still uses the stock internals. ...Published on 03-14-2013 12:29 PM
With support on this platform being held to minimum we decided to delight you guys with a set of custom three inch downpipes. They will be available with and without high flow cats for those interested. We already baselined the test mule late last year on a Dynojet at 467 to the wheels and took it to the track promptly afterwards knocking out a few 12.7 second 1/4 mile passes in our Florida humidity. ...Published on 03-13-2013 11:51 AM
A bit of a mismatch here on paper simply due to the nature of the two motors. The E60 M5 has a naturally aspirated V10 already at the 100 hp per liter mark from the factory. So, in a fairly high state of tune stock. The CTS-V has the LSA 6.2 liter V8 which is supercharged and it is no shock to anyone it will gain more power with bolt on's than the M5 thanks to being supercharged from the factory. Still, an interesting comparison to see between the two cars and what they can do with bolt on modifications. ...Published on 03-12-2013 04:40 PM
This is going to be a big year for BMW in the USA as many models are added and some are replaced. The current X5 will be getting replaced by its next generation F15 sibling as production will start in August. This was well known but another piece of exciting news is that an all new car will be available for sale as a 2014 model and that will be the F22 2-Series. This car is based on the F20 1-Series platform that is not available for sale in the USA due to the perceived notion that we Americans hate hatchbacks. ...
