MotorTrend did a very interesting comparison pitting the Mustang GT with the new 5.0 V8 vs. the venerable BMW M3. The two cars are surprisingly evenly matched. The Mustang did have the higher trap speed in the 1/4 but the elapsed times were neck and neck. Around the road course, the M3 takes the victory in yet another closely contested matchup. Price is clearly in the favor of the Mustang and Ford has done a commendable job. Ultimately, MotorTrend picks the M3 as the better car and we can not disagree, the M3 is better. However, the Mustang GT is truly impressive and a worthy oppponent. Ford has really stepped up their game. ...

The 335 in this video belongs to BimmerBoost user LostMarine. The Gallardo belongs to BimmerBoost user Byzantine. The 335 has Rob Beck upgraded turbos (20 psi) and dynos around 480 whp. The 335 is running a JB3, helix FMIC, and 96 octane. The Gallardo has been lightened by about 200 pounds (it is a 2006 model) and has the LOC exhaust, EVOMS tune, and Fabspeed cat delete. We thank these two for making the trip to Bolivia to run the cars and show the result! Enjoy the video. ...

BMW gets the victory at Road America. It was a tough fought race with the number 90 BMW driven by Dirk Mueller pulling out the victory. The number 92 BMW unfortunately was taken out of the race when it hit the wall on the back straight. Coming in second was Patrick Long who continues to be the nemesis for the BMW team in his 911 GT3 RSR. BMW should now be first overall in the manufacturer standings with only two races remaining. ...

We have seen the video of this Gold X5M posted everywhere but now we have some hi-res photos. The X5 making waves is owned by a man named Erik from Moscow. He supposedly has some other gold and chrome cars. This X5 is different in a good way, does not look half as bad the idea sounds on paper. ...

BimmerBoost member DLSJ5 recently did some comparison runs with some very fast cars somewhere in Mexico. The M3 is running water/meth with a Gintani Stage 2+ supercharger setup. The car is a DCT E92 M3 and dynos in the high 500 whp range. The pair of Z06's are stock, but one can see the cars are quite strong stock. The GTR's were lightly modded and posed no real threat. The eye opener is the run with the Protomotive 996 turbo running K24/20g turbos on C16 with a RWD conversion. Suffice it to say, that car is very strong. Enjoy the videos! ...

BMW qualifies in 4th and 8th spots for the ALMS race tomorrow August, 22 at Road America. Weather has been a challenge with a storm doing some damage to the track and the surrounding areas. Chevrolet managed to take the pole as well as the second spot with their pair of ZR1's. The season is winding down and BMW is tied with Ferrari for the lead. Sport Auto took the M3 GTS around the ring in 7 minutes and 48 seconds. Laps under the 8 minutes barrier are impressive but we are a bit disappointed with this result. The E46 M3 CSL managed a time of 7:50. The 911 new GT3 manages a 7:40. It is a good result but not exaclty what were expecting especially when put against the CSL. We expect this time to be whittled down with some more laps. Maybe someone should have Walter Rohrl drive it? ...

Car Magazine has an article on what is the best M3. They choose to compare the E92 M3 GTS, E46 M3 CSL, and E30 M3 Sport Evo as their examples of the best M3's. The article gives a nice overview and some basic information but no real insight. No lap times, no perspectives from various owners or race car drivers, nothing much really to justify what on paper should be an epic comparison. Without the E36 M3 included, it really isn't a true comparison. Omitting an entire generation is not just an oversight, it is a mistake of epic proportions which leaves the article meaningless without having every generation of M3 included. ...

Unfortunately, the Wiesmann MF5 will no longer have the BMW S85 5.0 liter V10. As was announced a couple weeks ago here, it seems S85 motor production has come to an end leaving Wiesmann without a motor. The MF5 will continue to be produced however Wiesmann is waiting to hear back from BMW on what motor they will be able to use. More than likely a twin turbo V8 of some sort will be the replacement which is not a bad consolation prize. Now, feast your eyes on the beauty that is the Wiesmann MF5. ...

Hartge has released their body kit for the BMW X1 along with a quad exhaust, wheels, and lowering springs. The X1 is not exactly the meanest looking BMW but the Hartge upgrades certainly make it look more aggressive. Hartge also has ECU tunes for both diesel motors which the USA will no doubt not be getting when the X1 crosses over. ...
