• Single Turbo BMW E39 M5 S62 V8

Here we have a built motor S62 V8 running a single turbo. The motor has been dropped down to 9.0:1 compression and the turbo is a Garrett GT4088R. This is impressive to see as there has not been much if any successful turbo development on the S62 V8. As you all know, HPF abandoned plans to bring a turbo setup to market citing cost. It would seem this car from Russia has succeeded at least in the hardware aspect. We are waiting to see dyno's once the motor is broken in as well as who tuned it as it uses the stock DME! Impressive.

Me too, I'm impressed they tuned this on the stock DME.

Need to see it put down some power as well before we can consider it a success.

Who did the tuning? Any expected power goals?

Super impressed that this is tuned on stock DME! That is awesome. Looks to be a really clean build as well. Definitely subscribed for more information on this one.

The tuning of the stock DME is not hard but requires a lot of experimenting which puts strain on a newly built motor. In the past I have witness a E36 M3 that had the air mass meter signal replaced with a map sensor. The air mass meter map was then tuned accordingly seeing the voltage from the map sensor which was restricted to the 0-5V range. Getting the load vs map signal tuned perfectly is the harder part but it can be done in this method. Simplest method is piggy backing all the signals though.

That is so nice. Looks very clean and well done as seen on the surface. Has all the hallmarks to be impressive.
Reflecting on this it's good to see somebody can do it. Click here to enlarge

Have you considered the E-shift 2JZ conversion?

The manifolds have to connect at some point, I have no idea how they did that or what the setup is.
