This is an increase of 98 horsepower over the stock 617 horsepower rating. This power gain is accomplished by the use of ECU (engine control unit) software, TCU (transmission control unit), and a pulley upgrade. The power package also comes with performance spark plugs, upgraded intercooler pumps, and crank pinning hardware.
Weistec did not provide a dyno of their power package but there is no reason to doubt the claimed figures especially with their product history and proven results. The Weistec SLR Power Package package retails for $6,899.99: http://weistec.com/slrupgradepackage.html
Crank pinning hardware:
The upgrades do not stop with just more power. Weistec also has driveline upgrades available designed to withstand the additional torque. The Weistec SLR Driveline upgrade package consists of a carbon fiber driveshaft, upgraded axles, and a limited slip differential allowing nearly 100% lockup.
A carbon fiber driveshaft of course is lighter than the OEM piece and also safer due to how carbon material reacts if its capability is exceeded. Load and shock on the drivetrain is reduced. The axles of course are also stronger than the OEM pieces which is definitely necessary for someone that likes to do repeated launches on the strip.
The driveline package will be something someone increasing the torque greatly will want to look into. It retails for $9,995.00: http://weistec.com/slrdriveline.html
