      The SLS AMG is just about to end production with the introduction of the upcoming AMG GT. The naturally aspirated M159 V8 engine under the hood is already 'officially' retired with the new M178 twin turbo 4.0 liter direct injected taking its place. The SLS AMG will be fondly remembered as a modern take on a Mercedes classic. That classic of course being the renowned 1950's Mercedes-Benz 300SL which is fondly remembered for its 'gullwing' doors.

      The picture below juxtaposes the modern SLS AMG against the classic 50's 300SL with both cars proudly displaying their gullwing doors. The classic lines of the 300SL clearly standing up the test of time. Who knows when we will ever see cars like this from Mercedes again but the SLS AMG will be fondly remembered and has carved out a significant place in Mercedes history... forever.
