    • A new 2017 fourth gen RX7 (RX9) with a turbo 450 horsepower rotary to honor 50 years of Mazda rotaries on the way?

Sounds incredibly cool does it not? Many people chastised the RX8 which is the last Mazda road car to use the Wankel rotary motor. The reason being is that compared to the third generation FD RX7 with its turbocharged 274 horsepower 13B-REW motor. The RX8 13B-MSP Renesis engine was naturally aspirated and had 'only' 212-238 horsepower.

News of a new turbo rotary motor from Mazda and one with 450 horsepower mated to a new RX7 chassis is music to Mazda enthusiasts ears. Let's not get to excited though as there is nothing to back this up.

Motoring.com.au only says that a source close to Mazda is working on a 450 horsepower twin scroll turbo rotary for the 50th anniverssary of the Mazda rotary. This same source e-mailed the BoostAddict network with a Nigerian e-mail address and told us we won $50 million. Ok ok, joking, and they could be right, but the source can not be quoted and why has Mazda has not mentioned or tested anything substantiating these claims?

Mazda did register the RX7 and RX9 names supposedly although why would they not already have the RX7 name? This is a lot of speculation from Aussie friends but we hope they are right. If not, we will remind them they weren't.
