  • APR releases version 3.0 of their transverse EA888 2.0T K04 turbocharger system

    APR continues to update their offerings and this is version 3.0 of their K04 turbo kit for the transverse mounted EA888 direct injected 2.0T engines. APR was able to get fairly large gains on the top end along with adding new features. The gain comes mostly in peak power and torque with version 3.0 offering 23 horsepower at the crank and 25 lb-ft of torque at the crank over version 2.0 on 93 octane pump gas.


    There is a dip however in the mid-range from 3000 to 4000 rpm. Why? APR has not explained why but it looks like some of the mid-range is being sacrificed for top end punch.

    The hardware remains the same so this is strictly a software change. What is admittedly pretty cool of APR is the software upgrade is free for existing ECU tune customers. They are not making a quick cash grab here like most would.

    For $2,474.99 it's hard to argue against the value here for 330 whp on pump gas and 349 whp on race gas from the 2.0T. This kit applies to several Audi and VW models which are listed below.

      Hardware isn't completely the same, You need a 3 bar map sensor.

      If I wasn't itching for a new platform, I would jump on this.

      APR keeps making me wanting to get an A4 or a VW so badly now. I'd love to DD an Avant with 330whp or an older A3!
