• World first - Weistec cracks the SLS Black Series TCU (transmission control unit) and has control of the M159 SLS dual clutch gearbox

      This is serious business right here and continues to show that the grasp Weistec has on the M156/M159 platforms is unrivaled. The SLS Black Series just like the standard Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG features a dual clutch gearbox. However, the redline on the two cars is different as the SLS M159 V8 revs to 7200 rpm and the M159 V8 for the SLS Black Series was redesigned to rev to a higher 8000 rpm redline for more top end horsepower and tighter gearing.


      The dual clutch transmission software of course was also changed in the SLS Black Series to accommodate the higher redline. Not to mention the more aggressive shifting profile for the Black Series. Weistec is able to flash a stock SLS with the Black Series TCU software. This answers a question BenzBoost raised a while ago when the SLS Black Series came out regarding if one could retrofit Black Series parts and software to the standard SLS. It certainly is appearing increasingly more likely that SLS owners will be able to update their cars with the newer AMG parts and software.

      Expect a release with the product information and cost in the coming weeks. Weistec is testing the M159 V8 in the standard SLS to see how it reacts to the increased RPM as far as longevity and durability is concerned before officially releasing this software. The custom Weistec coded TCU software requires an ECU flash to function correctly as well.

        One thing I will say is I was in communication with Kleemann for some time and they were being very vocal and then it all just stopped without a trace.

        Nobody ponied up the cash, their system is more expensive than the Weistec system and relatively unproven. I have not heard of anyone putting one on a track. Maverick is the only person I know that purchased one. There is thread after thread on all the big MB Forums of people posting dyno sheets, track results and real world feedbadk of their Weistec powered machines, there is nothing like that out there for the Kleemann system. Most people that are going to plunk down $15-$20k on a blower for a $80-$300K AMG are going to do some research and go with the proven system. I don't think anyone can question the amount of testing and R&D that Weistec puts into their products

        There is one here in the gulf on an E63. I have been trying to run against him for more than 4 months now and get a video for you all and he just wont do it. He did race a Supersprint Header/Tune C63 tuned by Weistec and was only 3 cars ahead of it.

        I know exactly who you are talking about. POS doesn't want to run me with my C63 as well.

        I hate pussies like that. Too afraid to line up against someone for fear he may lose. I bet he lines up against cars he knows he can for sure beat all the time but god forbid someone with a car that might give him a run for his money pulls up next to him at a stop light he will instantly acts like he doesn't see you...what a tool.

        Speaking for myself only, i have 1 Kleeman system installed and it has performed very well - having said that i only got one because i got a very special price on it and probably wouldnt have considered one at its usual retail price at the time because it was a clear premium to the Weistec product. i am very happy with it. After some well documented teething problems in 2011/12 i am just as happy with the 3 Weistec systems i have too - just wish i had some of their headers!

        Why not get the headers? Clearly these motors benefit from a nice set.

        I would definately consider it if some more info was available like price and fitment for RHD cars and also some sound clips too

        @Sticky- i have tried this mod with Weistec. by all means it does not work and a dramatic loss of power is very much noticeable. They are still testing this which I obviously did not know about.

        I will post about this seperatley.

        You don't know about it because your brother obviously didn't discuss the conversation we had about it. It definitely works. We emailed you regarding this as well. Let's get the facts straight here honestly speaking.

        I know a local guy that got the Weistec BS TCU tune upgrade on his SLS and he has no complaints. Actually I think there are a few guys over on PL that recently got the upgrade as well and I have not heard anything negative over there from any of them either. Not sure why it would not work, the BS, standard SLS and SLS GT all share the same transmission hardware, this has been confirmed by AMG engineers on PL and in public chat sessions with AMG technical reps and engineers on PL.

        He was with me during our conversation. My brother knows about every conversation we had regarding his car.

        We honestly didnt know the car needed to be custom tuned on the dyno. In additon, we didnt not expect the car to produce less power than a stock SLS

        again, I appreciate you trying to fix the issue with my brother right now with his ECU, but it has really been a mess on my head.

        Less power than a stock SLS?? Don't even know how a TCU would reduce power that much what are the problems your having with it exactly? I have the weistec Valve Body and TCU upgrade on my c63 MCT and absolutely love it

        I can't speak for Weistec but I would assume you got the same tcu tune as everyone else. Here is a thought, you are in the middle east where it is hotter than hell, right? Maybe the more aggressive BS tcu tune creates more heat in the trans with faster harder shifts and more aggressive matched rev downshifts, I am sure the ecu retards timing once the trans temps get way up there and pulls timing to cut power. I am no engineer but I would think faster harder shifts create more energy and that can equal more heat. I am not saying that is the absolute case, but it migt be something to ponder. These cars ECUs are smart and the cars self preservation kicks in and they do all sorts of stuff. Have you had the car on a dyno to back up your claims of less power? I have no issues with you and you're usually pretty well informed on most topics pertaining to M156's and M159's but to come on here and make a blanket statement that the tcu tune does not work when I know people that have the exact same tune and are VERY impressed with you it might be jumping the gun a bit. You and your brother are kind of like me, your always pushing the limits of these cars and you guys are not affraid to take them to the track and use them.
