    • VF-Engineering Stage I to Stage III E46 M3 S54 supercharger kit upgrade and tune by Ray West tuning before/after dyno results

This E46 M3 owner decided to upgrade from the VF-Engineering Stage I supercharger system to the Stage III system. Stages 1, 2, and 3 from VF-Engineering use the exact same Vortech blower. The difference is the mapping and associated parts. In this case going from Stage I to Stage III involved adding larger fuel injectors, an air to water charger cooler (Stage I does not feature intercooling), and a custom tune for the hardware courtesy of UK tuner Ray West.

The before and after changes with new mapping, cooling, and more fuel are night and day on the same blower. The Stage I graph shows 440.5 wheel horsepower. After the supplemental parts and new tune the result is 538.4 or just about 100 more horsepower at the wheels.

VF-Engineering has a long documented history of questionable tuning on the E46 M3 platform with their supercharger kits so a custom tune is certainly preferred than going with the canned tune. The result here speaks for itself.

I don't know where you fell off the map with this...I said it would be interesting to see this 540whp e46M3 versus a S/C e92 M3, you said not even a race, so I asked what if DCT? And your reply is 200whp less? How do you figure that? S/C M3 should be ~580whp, so it has a 40whp advantage, you're losing me lol

I have no idea where that came from, no one said stock M3 anywhere...LOL I asked about S/C M3 6MT versus this e46M3 with 540whp in a manual and all of a sudden when we throw a DCT in the mix he's saying it's down 200whp? Click here to enlarge

You didn't say SC in your post. You mentioned SC now.

And what turbos are you talking about? Are you ok? We are talking about supercharged e46 versus supercharged e92...lol something got lost in translation here

What got lost in translation is your wrote 6MT E92 and then DCT. You left out supercharged completely.

I am completely fine. Excuse my imput on the turbos. But 540whp supercharged or turbo, would result in the e92 m3 losing, if we are referring to a stock car. But I see that you did not mean stock e92 m3, so this entire convo went left for no reason.

lol, yeah it did, my bad. I am only asking cause after my 335 build is done which will be shortly and I build my house I am thinking about a e46 M3 in a manual with a S/C as a fun auto x car, and keep the 335 as a straight line beast. I think that'd be a nice little pairing in the garage

Gotcha. With the blower, the e46 m3 is a good option for auto x tracking. How much power are you shooting for with the 335 build?

Nice... Wouldn't that be a record for the 335? I didn't realize they could make that much power yet. You're stepping into a completely different territory of BMWs.

They can't just yet. With the fuel they will be able to. And the fuel is coming shortly.

Someone is right around that right no but their trans won't hold so backed down. AFAIK he's the only one that's actually put the Vargas HPFP upgrade to the test. Vargas put down I think 725whp with their prototype TT kit on a stock fuel system.

My short term goal is 650whp kill tune on race gas, but that depends on if stock trans will hold it even with some upgrades until my built trans gets back.

After that 700+whp will be the goal on stock motor with built trans and I'll just play it by ear after that. I'm not too worried about hitting those goals TBH.

Oh, and I am 6AT and current WR on 6AT is 632whp, I do plan on beating that very soon.

Okay cool. Would be nice to see some more power 335s at Shift Sector.

Lots of power difference between those two cars; 100 horsepower difference at the wheels is hugely significant. It's similar power/difference between say a GT-R and a 370z stock for stock - not even a match up.

Those S54s are nasty with turbos - cannot wait to see the S65 in all it's glory.

My E46 M3 with a 3.5'' exhaust, headers, and a tune would be neck and neck with an E92 M3. An entry level SC kit on a E46 M3 would walk away from a E92 M3 no problem.

From a stop, this may be possible for him to be neck and neck to about 100 mph or so. I was able to pull 12.9 in my completely stock e46 m3. Its been a few years, but I may be able to locate those slips... So his mph might be lower, but he could be neck and neck until the speeds gets higher. Most E9x M3 owners can't drive, and thats exactly why I see them at the track doing 12.8, 12.9, 13.1 in their stock cars.
