    • M133 shows its four cylinder muscle - Stock CLA45 AMG on the drag strip runs a 12.6@108.8 1/4 mile

The CLA45 AMG and the new M133 2.0 liter four-cylinder just continue to impress. Mid 12's from a factory 2.0 liter turbocharged motor with a warranty? Believe it. The all wheel drive and dual clutch transmission certainly help but the CLA45 AMG in the video below manages a 12.67 @ 108.8 with a 1.846 60 foot in warm Australian weather. BenzBoost hopefully does not need to provide a geography lesson and explain why it's summer in Australia right now.

Regardless, impressive performance from the entry level AMG and a 12.67 is the quickest stock pass recorded so far. Below the slip is a video showing he weather conditions as well as several passes.

and with the right AMG options it is at least a $57k car
IF you are talking about the CLA250 which starts at $29,900, then I agree, MB is going to sell many of them due to the price and the star on the grill.

If you are calling the $50k+ CLA45 a "game changer", than that is the sound of my laughter.

The R35 GTR was a game changer when it was released with a $70k pricetag.
        The C7 ZO6 will be a game changer with it's ZO6 pricetag.
But, a $50k WRX STI from Mercedes is a joke.

MB definitely was smart especially considering the next gen C63 is going to be $70k+

If you're not about "performance per dollar", you're an idiot.

The ONLY reason I am considering a Mercedes is the unique combination of low profile exterior, power to weight ratio, AWD, and DCT that I was told the next C63 would offer.
If not, I would prefer something domestic or japanese like my Corvettes and sportbikes.

Uhhhhhh..... that's the ENTIRE POINT we're making.
The CLA45 doesn't deserve to have a AMG label, let alone 66% mark up over the base CLA.

The C7 ZO6 is going to humiliate many overpriced euro wagons, just like the C6 did.

I respect the 2014 E63, especially when tuned, but I'm not impressed with the cars you leg hump.

It most certainly deserves an AMG badge and it has an incredible AMG built motor. So, um, yeah.

Oh the next generation Corvette Z06 is going to out perform some AMG sedans? You should have puts spoiler tags on your post.

Yeah it's leg humping to post about AMG's on an AMG performance site. For sure, good call.

        I respect the 6.2L and the M157.

        But, the M133 is PATHETIC.
If AMG launched a 1.0L engine that made 200HP in a 4,000lb sports sedan, would you rave about it just because it was 1.0L ????

Your MB leg humping is embarrassing.

What-if's! So much fun. The thing is they don't have a 1.0 liter performance engine. They have a performance four-cylinder along with many other manufacturers so they are competing in a segment that actually exists. They just happen to have the best engine the segment. That's pathetic?

What's embarrassing is your ignorance. If you don't like the motor or the car feel free to ignore it. Mercedes performance sites are going to discuss Mercedes performance motors of all shapes and sizes so your argument is invalid by default.

I don't here any talk of the Chevy Cruz or Spark or whetever $hitboxes they make on my GM performance sites.
If you want to post about the CLA45, be my guest.
But, be prepared to have educated people call it out for what it is: a ridiculously overpriced WRX STI with a star in the grill.
And, I'll admit, maybe I should leave my response to that one sentence and ignore your replies so we don't go back and forth for 2 pages.

Let's hope the next C63 lives up to the hype so we all have something to agree on.

That makes sense. The Chevy Cruz and the CLA45 AMG are direct competitors and basically in the same segment offering similar performance.

You mean the most affordable AMG offering the world's most powerful four-cylinder motor with all wheel drive and a dual clutch with the STI, EVO, and anyone else does not match?

AMG hit a home run. Appreciate that they offer cars for different segments whether it be large displacement top end or small displacement entry level. You act like they choose to produce this over the M157.

Be prepared to have educated enthusiasts here who appreciate all cars.

I agree on all the points accept that the word "affordable" should NEVER be in the same sentence as the CLA45.
The $50k pricetag makes the CLA45 f@cking ridiculous.

I will try to end this dance with this point.
The CLA45 would have made sense with a $30k base price.
$50k and a AMG label are both ridiculous for this car.

That's probably why I wrote most affordable.

You want a mid 12 second car with a dual clutch, offering modern emissions, all wheel drive, and Mercedes interior/exterior for $30k? Yeah so does everyone.

        I'd like a Dodge Viper for $50k.

No, I said the CLA45 should have been the CLA250, and the CLA250 should have never been made, because they both cost basically the same for MB to produce.
The 66% mark up for the 45 over the 250 is insane.
The S4 is a much better buy for $50k.
        I stand by my comments.

You obviously haven't spent much time driving Vipers.
        I have.
        I won't want one......PERIOD.
        I'd rather have a $52k Corvette.
