• BMW states the i8 is all about performance - Is the BMW i8 a high performance sports car?

BMW is on the i8 offensive releasing a video recently attempting to convince the public that the BMW i8 is all about performance. BimmerBoost just is not buying what BMW is trying to sell in the video below. In one breath the BMW representative states the i8 is all about performance and then quickly switches the subject to discussing the i8's 'beauty' and design. Drop the act BMW, the i8 is clearly all about pushing the i brand and creating a trendy hybrid for attention and not a high performance hybrid sports car.

Yes, the car is beautiful. Yes, it is efficient despite its fairly limited range. It is very difficult to take this car seriously as a $130,000+ high performance sports car with a tiny three cylinder turbo motor. 231 horsepower from the gasoline motor simply does not cut it in this price range. Talking about the 154 horsepower per liter will not distract performance enthusiasts from that reality.

With Porsche taking hybrid performance to the extreme in the 918 Spyder the i8 feels underwhelming. Especially considering the all electric Tesla Model S sedan offers higher performance without even needing a three-cylinder crutch. Is it beautiful? Yes. Is it a high performance car? No.

Slightly lol. My first brand new car was a E92 M3 DCT, but not nearly as awesome as yours, it was just FBO but dearly miss it. Congrats on the record since I wasn't registered back then, love the development here!

The M3 is just getting into its groove. With turbos the E92 is going to be king of the BMW pack. Well, unless the S85's get into the mix. Which they may...

I hope to see S85s continue to grow, Gintani makes me hopeful with the goods they're developing, and I'm about the biggest turbo fanatic around so I want another E92 M3 just to TT it lol. I was working on making my own manifolds when I had mine but space was too much of a factor. Kudos to Gintani

That's definitely awesome, I knew someone could get this done. Any idea what size turbos they've fit?
