    • New S52/M52 E36 stock DME horsepower record - Maximum PSI hits 1008 wheel horsepower

      Congratulations to Maximum PSI and NickG of Technique Tuning who continues to impress with his BMW stock DME tuning prowess. The Maximum PSI E36 M3 put down a jaw dropping 1008 wheel horsepower on a Dynojet in SAE correction. What makes this even more impressive is it was achieved with the stock BMW engine management computer. This is the type of BMW tuning achievement BimmerBoost lives for covering.


      Modifications are a 71mm turbo, ID2000 injectors, Technique Tuning OBD2 software, forged internals, and the associated parts from the Maximum PSI turbo kit. The fuel is E85.

      There is not much left to say other than this car and the tuning is flat out nasty. Congratulations once again to those involved.

        Really great stuff. I would have to guess that their boost control though is external through either a manual or electronic boost controller of some sort. E36 M3 OEM DME has no way of controlling an external/internal wastegate or PID control algorithms.

        @NickG, what's been done to this motor? Any head/valve train work? What's the compression on it?

        Those were my arguments against why one might purchase an E92 M3 over a dated 911 which many here have opted to do. What we're talking about here is a horsepower record on a platform not what one is buying or which is better. As in, a completely different topic and this is leaps and bounds ahead of any factory turbo six cylinder motor BMW has produced which makes you think, doesn't it?

        Yep, but to my knowledge there are not many if any factory 6 cylinder turbo motors that have been built, slapped a big single on them and run e85. You can do anything with the right amount of money Sticky, factory or not.

        Not to take anything away from this amazing accomplishment. Pretty damn impressive.

        No, you can't. You have to have an architecture that will let you work to this level with it. The M/S 50/52 engine line is the one of the best six cylinder engine families in the history of the automotive world. Period.
