• The world's first supercharged Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series debuts at SEMA courtesy of Weistec Engineering

Well, that was fast wasn't it? The SLS Black Series just hit the streets and yet Weistec Engineering has already managed to supercharge the car. Keep in mind this is a very limited production vehicle so this says quite a bit about Weistec's resources as well as their clientele. The car debuted at SEMA 2013 this past Tuesday at the Optima Batteries booth. Suffice it to say there was quite a large crowd gathered around the car making something as simple as snapping a picture difficult.

The supercharger was powdercoated red to match the theme going on with the car which is a black/red. This is tied together with the wheels as well. The supercharger is a 3.0 liter twin screw unit similar to what Weistec showed earlier in the year on a standard SLS. Obviously due to the changes in the M159 V8 for the SLS Black Series compared to the standard SLS AMG tuning changes are necessary. It is not as simple as just slapping on a blower from a regular SLS.

What are the power numbers? We will have to wait and see. The fact that Weistec actually managed to get this car ready for SEMA in less than a couple weeks is surprising in of itself. An update will be posted when the vehicle is dyno'd.

Congratulations to Weistec for making the tight deadline and for a Mercedes unlike any other at the show. This particular SLS Black Series belongs to BenzBoost member @JRCART. Pictures below.

Absolutely sick !! Weistec shows once again why its head and shoulders above the competition in the AMG scene. One question i have is are those Just regular Pirelli PZero on the new wheels? The SLS BS comes with the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 that was exclusively developed for the SLS BS, 991 GT3, and Porsche 918 Hyper Car. Prob one of the best "street" tires out for outright grip I wonder why they would downgrade especially with the Optima challenge and the road course? Maybe theyll switch wheels for the race

Might have something to do with tire sizes or these being the 'street' setup.

Thats what im thinking ! Not much better for absolute cornering grip than the new Michelin PSC 2 I mean they are the OE tire for the porsche 918. The same car that just obliterated the ring record so im sure the tires are insane and only full slicks might give you a better time. Knowing weistec/JR i think theyll run the Michelins on the course which will be BADA$$

@Sticky according to weistecs Instagram the SLS BS was pulled over in Vegas and impounded for whatever reasons and was unable to make the optima race. What a bummer

Glad you have the car back. All these trouble makers with supercharged SLS's in the world that the Police need to spend their time on.

Thank you for the kind words! the 20" 21" stagger on the SLS gives us limited tire options. We made two sets of wheels for the car. One being the set in the pictures and another being a 19" 20" set with a very sticky tire! It is hard to make the SLS Black Series better when it comes with a full blown race tire from the factory.

Very disappointing for all of us this weekend. The car was a real contender in the Optima Challenge. The Vegas Strip was filled with SEMA cars. We didn't see many obeying the law. As the saying goes, better luck next year!

Beautiful car. Bravo to Weistec. I absolutely love how OEM that kit looks, I bet in black most people wouldn't even know the difference.
