• 2015 Beetle R model appears to be on the way, spotted testing - Spyphotos

Excellent news here that a Beetle R high performance model is on the way. The vehicle was spotted testing as you can see in the photos below. The Beetle R is expected to essentially mirror the recently revealed MKVII Golf R drivetrain. That means a 296 horsepower 2.0 liter direct injected and turbocharged four-cylinder motor with a DSG dual clutch transmission mated to all wheel drive. This makes for a much more desirable Beetle model than the upcoming Beetle GSR.

Bodywork changes are minor and the car is not as aggressive as the Beetle R concept unfortunately. Regardless, let's all hope this model comes to the United States and be thankful Volkswagen seems intent to produce it.

    Spyphotos below.

Starting to look like a Audi TT. But still a little more girly.

Smart move in my opinion. Which car did Ferdinand Porsche design first?

I would seriously consider trading my F30 for this.

Technically, both, as there were three men named Ferdinand Porsche. Click here to enlarge

Dr. Porsche designed the Beetle first, with the aid of his son "Ferry". The 911 (901 at the time) was done by "Butzi" Porsche, the Dr.'s grandson.

Gotcha. Thanks for the history. My point was the beetle came first
