    • A lesson in what a little stance can do - Airbagged 1972 Mercedes-Benz 280 SEL

This network focuses on what is the newest and what is the fastest so often that sometimes the fact one does not have to have a billion horsepower to enjoy their car gets lost in the shuffle. Case and point, here is a 1972 Mercedes-Benz 280 SEL. The car's classic lines have held up incredibly well. It does not need some crazy body kit, wings, carbon fiber pieces, etc., just a little bit of a drop and one is reminded just how well Mercedes designed their past cars and why their name is what it is.

The work here is done by @alex@ABRhouston. Just look at the transformation from stock to present. The end result is quite simply gorgeous, enjoy.

I am impressed with the quality of the components.
Equally, I think the system is very thought out.

I just wish looming was put on some of the wires for cleanliness. I dont want to take apart the weatherpac connectors just to put nice looming on the wires Click here to enlarge

Use the imgur app to upload and just copy/past the [img]***.jpg[/img] code it creates for you into your post.

This was really annoying. that imgur thing sucked too. what a pain in the ass to upload for whatever reason.

        This looked like crap.

        Attachment 32071

So i scraped all the crap out of the floor

        Attachment 32079

This is what I did to insulate the trunk.

        Attachment 32078

I made a new trunk floor out of some 1/4" rubber mat. I think it cleaned up the trunk a lot!

        Attachment 32080

The bump stops were wasted. the differential actually dented the floor plan when it collapsed the bumps.

        Attachment 32077

        listening to old skool baby.

        Attachment 32076

I found some polyurethane mounts, and put them on the doffelldinger spring to keep it quiet.

        Attachment 32075

I ripped off the old bonded rubber stops to the plate, drilled a hole in the plate.

        Attachment 32074

        Attachment 32073

I found some poly bumpstops and installed them on the original plate. bam. thats how you fix things Click here to enlarge
