  • 2010 MKVI Volkswagen GTI with upgrade turbo (EFR7163) versus Cobb Protune E90 335i from a roll

The two videos below come to us courtesy of VWBoost.com member zhijjawi10 (try typing that screenname 10 times fast). What you have here is a MKVI Volkswagen GTI with a EFR turbo, Eurodyno boost controller, inline Bosch lpfp (low press fuel pump), and a map for meth with pump gas. Boost on the GTI is at 23 psi. The car is tuned by Chris Tapp using the Eurodyne Masetro Tuning suite which is a flash uploading through an interface cable.

The E90 335i has the N54 twin turbo inline-6 motor BimmerBoost members know and love. It has full bolt on modifications (front mount intercooler, intake, meth injection) and is said to be putting out 420 wheel horsepower with a Cobb Pro Tune for meth injection. That is a stout 335i.

There are two videos below. The first video cuts out when the GTI starts to pull. The second video shows what happens in a subsequent roll on race as the GTI puts several car lengths on the 335i up top. The GTI is said to spin in second gear even at 40 miles per hour. When it hooks, it is clear what happens. Very, very impressive GTI to take this 335i so strongly. Much respect to @zhijjawi10.

    Videos below.

Im editing the video's will post them up tonight!

And I have never ran race fuel in my car Chris.

and DAMN, Stucks and Zeel have some quick f*cking 335i's.

PS. during the runs, I was logging and came to find out that my car is stuck at a 22.4psi limit. So in all these video's (including the older video's in this thread) boost is hovering between 21.8psi and 22.4psi. I even set it at 24 for the second run against Stucks and it still requested 22.4psi. Interesting, gotta figure that out. My clutch also slipped a few times during all these videos. Always something with this car lol. Once I figure out how to get past 22.4psi and then get a new clutch, I'm coming back for another attempt at revenge on stucks and zeel LOL.

      Always a good time!

Any idea what is causing you to be stuck at that boost level? Something in the tune? Not hardware right?

I drive the 135i. In those vids I was running too high of an e85 content for stock fueling. with e25 I put down 412 whp and 459wtq.

This particular day I had filled up around e45 because of an overzealous feeling that my fueling system could handle it. The shifts aren't bad ones, it is just my fueling system hiccuping to provide the demands from the jb4. The next day I threw in a modest e85 content (3.5 gals to 9 gals of 93) and she went back to normal. When Zach gets his boost and clutch issues sorted we will run again. I love how golfmk6 is eating this up and saying my stage II 135i=k04 power. Too funny over there.

Yeah bro no problem, Zach's car is fast no doubt! On this day, my girl was riding my ass to hang out with her and the runs were time sensitive, hence why they are short and in and out of traffic. I mentioned a few times how my post shift lag was probably due to my e85 content and my suspicions were affirmed when a 420 whp 335i (500 lbs heavier) put about 2 cars on Zach. The dip in my front end was due to a fueling cut after each shift, probably a very much needed self preservation measure taken by my ECU. These guys usually run on Friday's in Maryland about an hour north of me. I'm usually gassed from a long week of work and being a pussy about it but I'll try to make it out for some quality runs in the near future. I know Zach probably needs a new clutch and some body work so it might be a while but we'll put together some nice videos. Anyone in the NOVA area with bigger power toys I'd love to run sometime to get more of a bearing on where I stand performance wise. Always looking to meet new peeps.

Already saw it bro, which really confirmed my suspicions that my fueling system was cutting post shift. I love dubs and had a k04 mk6 but some of the claims on golfmk6.com are downright laughable; especially the assertion that a k04=power levels in my 1er. However, to the untrained eye to my setup and that higher e85 contents without supporting fueling mods can actually rob power, I can see how it would be chalked up to a kill with the notion that BMW owners are dick heads etc. This platform is scary fast, and those vids aren't in any way indicative of how my car really performs with proper fueling. The numbers really have to be spot on to make the most and I should have stayed at e30 but got cocky.

Yea I have some tinkering to do with my car as well. Stucks was running the same map7 that managed me 123.9 at capitol while I was running a custom map6 with meth and on this night Stucks car appeared stronger. I am going to try dialing boost down a tiny bit closer to map7 levels and see if it responds better.

What's up Chris? Yeah man with my car it's at the point where I don't even post much online anymore. I just sit back, do some dynos, buy some mods, and drive hard sometimes. I will try to provide more videos because A. I enjoy them and I'm making nice power on my particular platform and B. there are some good cars to run in my area. I don't know what my plans are with the 1er from here on out. She's fast, scary fast. However, I need to budget a clutch, tires, and other mods. I'll probably slap a FMIC on and it call it a day as it is very easy to get into trouble with this car speed wise and danger wise. These ECU's are also very very finnicky. I have discussed it ad nauseum with fellow members. The car doesn't like to be $#@!ed with computer wise and really fights back with the tune. However, it does shine and when it does it is an instant 400+whp on demand with zero lag. Time will tell as I have 60k on the odometer and I drive it hard.

Dude this car is honestly a time bomb in terms of reliability. It performs differently with every tank of gas I put in it. I don't have doubts about my fueling system yet but I foresee a lot of money spent on a clutch, injectors, spark plugs, and coil packs in the near future. I'm really at a crossroads on what I want to do with it. I can either put more aftermarket things on it and make 15+ more whp or really tighten up the loose ends that come with owning a BMW maintenance wise. I think the next few months will see tires, plugs, and maybe trying to get BMW to give me some goodwill on a clutch install. Their OEM clutches are only 350$ and to be honest, the BOV and charge pipe along with a few other bolt ons are all I have left. A really good meth setup in this car is going to cost boku bucks. Not to mention she probably needs valve cleaning. Who knows, a lot of things swimming in my head right now.
