A 495 horsepower supercharged 5.0 liter V8 in the Jag versus a 3.8 liter naturally aspirated Porsche with 'only' 400 horsepower? The 911 does have a PDK dual clutch transmission though unlike the Jaguar's automatic and it is the lighter car. This 911 is a C4S model which weighs more than the standard 911 Carrera S and it makes one scratch their head as to why it was chosen other than to handicap the 911.
Regardless, the 991 C4S laps the test circuit in 1:11.0. The Jaguar does it in 1:12.2 despite its huge horsepower advantage. The reviewer is not particularly smooth with either car but especially the F-Type which he goes sideways in while talking when trying to set the fastest lap. These comparisons would be much better with a professional driver focused on the lap and trying to set the quickest time possible. A reason why Auto Express comparisons are considered basic quality by this network.
A straightline comparison would have been nice to see as well to show how efficient those Porsche ponies are in comparison but laptimes are all we get. Hopefully Autoweek raises its level of comparisons but still nice to see some data comparing the two.
