• Quaife releases a limited slip differential for the C207 Mercedes-Benz E550

It is official, Quaife has a limited slip differential upgrade available for the C207 Mercedes-Benz E550 models. With the torque the M278 twin turbo V8 generates a limited slip differential becomes necessary to maintain traction and definitely will improve putting the power down in corners especially as well as the straightline or low traction conditions (rain, snow). The diff is a direct replacement for the factory open differential. It will not interfere with the electronics or cause any malfunction lights.

The differential will also eliminate a degree of torque steer from the factory open diff. Quite simply, it's a great upgrade for the rear wheel drive E550 coupes. The diff comes with a lifetime warranty and will be available in July.

Great of Quaife to take care of a definite need for C207 E550 owners.

I got a referral off of MBWorld for MTech in Wilmington, DE (about 2 hours away). After talking to John, finding some online reviews, etc., I've decided to have them do the install. Everything he said lines up with what both Kleemann and Quaife have said, and his hourly rate is reasonable.

        Thanks for the help, @Sticky.

Best of luck with your install.
I'd do an install too, but got sidetracked with a pending move and a vacation home.

WOO HOO! The diff shipped today! I'm starting to get a little excited. They emailed the tracking information along with installation instructions and it looks so easy..... I'm almost tempted to go ahead and do the install myself. But I think the Mrs. might be upset if I used one our kitchen pots to heat up the crownwheel.

Anyone order a diff from Bird's before? If so, how long did it take to get through customs and into your hands?

Probably best to get it installed by a professional although cool to see you want to tackle it.

Never shipped with Brid's, guessing they gave you tracking info of course though right?

Doing it myself wouldn't be a problem if I was still in my old house in New Orleans. But I don't have the same space (like the three-car garage) or amenities (engine hoists hydraulic lift, tool sets) now that I live in Northern VA. Why did I move here? I'm having trouble remembering now.

Yep, and I've tracked the package to the shipping hub, but they aren't giving an expected delivery date. I assume this is due to the uncertainty introduced by the US' efficient and predictable customs process. *sigh*

Quaife diff arrived Friday while I was out of town, but here's a pic:

This thing is stout! And they included two factory MB seals in the package. I'm impressed with everything except the packaging - it apparently got a little wet in shipping and the box was somewhat damaged. The diff looks fine, though, so I'll be calling MTech tomorrow to schedule the installation. More to follow.

        Keeping you posted...

I just heard from M-Tech. They are declining to do the install and recommend I find a reputable specialist. I thought they were a reputable specialist! Talk about frustrating... I have a diff and no installer. If anyone has a shop that they feel is "reputable" and within a couple-hours drive of DC, please let me know.

Box doesn't matter but nice you got it in. Can't wait to see your impressions once it's in.

        That's somewhat amusing.

Man, I need to set up a shop directory you can search by zip code.

@nawlinstornado it needs to be custom programmed as it does not exist so it would take me a lot of money plus time debugging and integrating. It will come, definitely, but I literally need to put aside thousands to do it the way I have it pictured in my head.
