• And the BMW N54 horsepower record officially stands at 725 wheel horsepower - E92 335i with Vargas VTX-R 63 Stage 3 turbo upgrade, Cobb Flash, and PTF Pro Tune

Well, it seems the back and forth of N54 tuning horsepower records is over... for now. Earlier this month Vargas Turbo Tech and Pro Tuning Freaks (with a Cobb flash) set the N54 hosrepower record at 693 wheel horsepower. That basically obliterated what anyone else had hit on this platform. A competing tuner with a single turbo (the Vargas VTX63 upgrade consists of twin turbos) N54 upgrade kit out of nowhere pulled out suspect numbers that eeked out a few more wheel horsepower.

This became an ego pissing match of sorts but Vargas and Pro Tuning Freaks went back to the dyno to make some adjustments and managed to surprisingly quickly and easily take the horsepower record right back (and where it rightfully belongs due to the breakthrough being thanks to the Vargas work with the High Pressure Fuel Pump) with a 725 wheel horsepower pull.

A video is included below along with two graphs. The E92 335i is equipped with a Pro Tuning Freaks pro tuning using the Cobb flash system, 109 octane race gas, meth injection, and of course the Vargas Turbo Technologies VTX-R 63 (GTX2863R) twin turbo upgrade and HPFP upgrade.

Congratulations to Vargas, PTF, and Cobb for pushing the platform into new territory.

I hope they fit better than their 535i downpipes...

Eagerly awaiting this setup! AR makes great pipes. It would be nice if they could do the entire manifold as well. The only issue I've ever had with them was delivery date related.

Everything AR makes I have seen fits exceptionally well. Their N54 DP's blew away the others I installed.

I would prefer Doc-Rac do it. That is all they do is make turbo manifolds. Practice makes perfect.

Yeah that is ideal. I just don't know what the situation is re: volume and time frames. The sooner the better on the latter. Click here to enlarge

I have AR 335i catted pipes on my car, they fit amazingly well. I installed a set of 535i pipes a weekend or two ago, fit horribly... and it appears that the same issues have been consistent with their downpipes, no attempt at fixing the problem before shipping new units out. I would be embarrassed if i was AR.

What about MS? I heard they make a good pipe, although AR has been around our community longer and probably deserves the bone if they want it. They just gotta get their prices down a bit from the last time I checked, mind you that was a long time ago. Terry, do you or who makes your dps?

Ours are made overseas and are a high volume & slow to deliver operation. Not a good choice for a low volume project like this. You need a fabrication shop like AR for it.

Probably what it really comes down to is paying for quality. I'd give AR Design my money.

my dps are AR and is of the best I have assembled (and I've installed dps of different brands on many 335i).

If the dps that they will manufacture for our kits v63/67 are AR, I'll be 100% happy and quiet. Click here to enlarge

Yes, I have the same problem with my 535i AR downpipes. They welded the AR logo plate at the wrong spot!!!!! Both pipes are touching each other and created rattles because of the AR plate. Ultimately I have to cut out the AR logo plate in order to fit properly.

My car is picky about DPs and only the CP-Es fit. Weird I know.
