      The presentation pictures introducing the next generation 2014 S-Class were leaked out early and Worldcarfans managed to get a hold of them. Interesting to note is that the model designation will be V222 and not W222. For whatever reason Mercedes-Benz is moving up a letter in the alphabet as they probably feel the W numbering system is getting too cluttered. Regardless, here are the details on the upcoming S-Class.

      First of all, the car will launch with S550, S550 4Matic, and S63 AMG 4Matic models to start with. Mercedes-Benz and AMG holding true to their promise to expand all wheel drive offerings especially with AMG models. The cars body structure will not be completely aluminum but will use a hybrid steel and aluminum body shell with several aluminum panels.

      An intresting safety innovations is what Mercedes-Benz calls the "Beltbag" which is essentially an airbag in the seatbelt. The belt buckle is also active in a crash seemingly to help one get out of the vehicle. Some very interesting safety developments in the next gen luxury sedan.

      Two big 12.3" LCD screens are included with driver aid and info. The heads up display will not be available until the 2015 model year. All the options are listed below in the pictures, Mercedes-Benz is not pulling any punches this should be a hell of an update.

        Typically overseas the "V" designation means long-wheelbase and "W" means short-wheelbase in MBZ talk.. since we don't get the SWB S-Classes in NA MBUSA is just naming the body in-line with the rest of the world I'm guessing. Or maybe... we are getting SWB S-Classes this coming generation.

        All these new acronyms and features are confusing, but its nice to see MBZ is FINALLY adopting head-up displays. Fingers crossed the next AMG C-Class will get it too
