      Yes, Mercedes-Benz will be bringing an S-Class coupe with the next generation W222 S-Class. The S-Class will no longer be just a sedan but also a coupe and a convertible which was spotted testing last year. The demise of Maybach has made it so that Mercedes-Benz wants to stretch the W222 S-Class platform as much as possible with many different variants. This also means there will be no more CL-Class and that name much like the CLK will be dropped.

      The coupe will likely share the sedans powertrains. That means twin turbo V8 power for the S550 as well as the S63 AMG models. Considering the new R231 SL gets a V12 in the SL65 AMG variant the S-Class likely will get a S65 AMG model as well or else the development cost and production of the motor makes little sense for just one model. Especially with the previous generation S-Class sharing the 65 AMG drivetrain with the SL.

      More will be revealed when the car makes its debut in Geneva next year.

        Finally, Mercedes-Benz doing something that makes their model lineup less confusing instead of adding something or making it more confusing!

        The CL class wasn't really confusing at all...

        It never made sense to me why you have an C or E class coupe and an C or E class sedan, but when you have an S class coupe, the name suddenly gets turned into a CL. Same chassis and drivetrain.

        This is all new. The E-Coupe just came out it was the CLK before. The C-Coupe is also new.
