Mercedes-Benz SLC back on the table? 487 horsepower sports car coming to replace SLS in 2014, $130,000 base price

The last time the SLC was mentioned was in June of this year when the model was delayed indefinitely and put under "observation" due to its costs being deemed too high. Automobile, who gets things wrong pretty frequently, is saying the SLC will come in 2014 to replace the SLS. Why the SLS is being replace is anyone's guess as the SLC was supposed to be a 911 competitor aiming at a different market than the SLS AMG.

Additionally, the SLC is supposed to get a 487 horsepower V8 and a 544 horsepower Black Series variant. What motor is this based on? They don't say. Furthermore, Automobile states the model will actually be called an SLR which also does not make too much sense.

Frankly, it seems Automobile is pulling a lot of this stuff out of their rear end with no support from any official sources whatsoever. They even blatantly state these are rumors so it would seem they are just making this stuff up for hits in typical Automobile fashion.

BenzBoost would love for the SLC or SLR to come to market but until there is something official to back this up treat this all as a rumor and speculation.
