• BMW to show the F26 X4 concept at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show

      This came about pretty quickly, BMW will display their concept for the F26 BMW X4 at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show in January. With Porsche set to launch the Macan SUV and Mercedes producing a GLA SUV the Luxury Sport Utility segment keeps getting tighter with manufacturers looking to squeeze into every niche possible. The X4 will likely mimic what the X6 does which is take an existing platform, in this case the X3, and change the styling a bit into what BMW calls a SAC (Sport Activity Coupe).

      The X4 should share the X3's weight and drivetrain choices. The really interesting question will be if BMW intends to create an M version which will go up against the Porsche Macan Turbo. We will know more when the design concept is revealed in January.

        The chassis number for the X4 is F26, just sayin.

        Sticky, I am having trouble with the F chassis numbers myself. They are out of our norm for us and just dosen't sound right. With all of these iterations of chassis they will run out F chassis numbers very soon anyways. The X4 and the X4 M are going to very tight rides.

        It will just take getting used to. They will move to G eventually and then keep on going I guess.
