      At long last here is what you have all been waiting for. Weistec announced their supercharger upgrade for the factory supercharged 55 AMG models (M113K V8) in September. The upgrade consists of a 3.0 liter supercharger which replaces the factory 2.1 liter offering superior efficiency and cooling. Simply an awesome upgrade that got everyone talking but in our instant gratification world people demanded dyno results not realizing just how much Weistec has had on their plate the past few months. Well, here they are, and Weistec delivered exactly as promised as they always do.

      562 horsepower to the wheels with the 82mm throttle body on 91 octane. Completely stock car other than the blower upgrade and associated tuning/parts. With the 74mm throttle body the car puts down 534 horsepower to the wheels showing that the throttle body upgrade is definitely worth it to eliminate a significant point of restriction.

      The graphs Weistec is advertising their power gains with show 534 wheel horsepower with the 84mm throttle body and 512 wheel horsepower with the 74mm. They have hit up to 562 but Weistec is advertising the more conservative numbers. Speak softly and carry a big stick so to speak. Better to over-deliver than under-deliver so keep this in mind when looking at the graphs that a more aggressive tune/setup will obviously net more power but they prefer to be conservative.

      Baseline on the car was 398 horsepower to the wheels, 91 octane, completely stock in SAE correction on a dynojet. With an 82mm throttle body, the Weistec supercharger upgrade kit, and a full exhaust, cracking the 600 wheel horsepower mark is certainly well within reason. Add some race gas and more boost... and well, this is quite simply one hell of an upgrade for 55 AMG's.

        Should be getting any time and you should be very happy with the result. This is awesome.

        Lets see what my SL55 is capable of producing, 105 octane, 84mm throttle body, and some goodies already stored in., hopefully something above 600rwhp, well these are just numbers and I'm more than positive Weistec will make me a happy customer since I am already hitting 550rwhp using 95 octane and an 80mm throttle body.

        One thing I really like with the 3.0 S/C from Weistec is that I wont be experiencing anymore heat soak from my 2.1 S/C from AMG. Gave the car some runs a couple of days ago and I could feel the car was dying on me. Car has 55,000 miles on it and it was time I refreshed the life of my car. Worked a lot to make my car look like this, and its about time I make my car run like the wind Click here to enlarge

        @0-60Motorsports and I have been focusing a lot lately on the performance of the car, since very soon I'll be achieving that, its time I focused on the cooling of the car. Only mods I have so far are the MHP Thermostat. A very large Heat Exchanger kit is on the way, hopefully in a few days it will be on the island and then the build begins

        Yep should be a large difference in that regard.

        I have a few questions.

        Does the system retain the stock ECU ?

        How does the Weistec intercooler work ? Does it use the stock heat exchanger and Intercooler pump ?

        It's going to be more efficient no matter what. There is simply no way the stock AMG blower can match it per pound of boost. 540 is a sick number.

        sticky, i hope you can help me w some of these questions. if i go ahead w the supercharger and throttle upgrade that pushes the cost up to $10,200.
        1. would i also then need the ECU and TCU upgrades? that's like another $1800.
        2. would i need to get the cooling stuff (the pump upgrade and the ice trunk thing) especially since im in phoenix, arizona.
        3. what's the cost to have the supercharger and throttle upgrade installed along w the other stuff?
        4. is it worth doing to a car that's got 80,000 miles on it already?? 2004 SL55 AMG. im wondering if it's too old to throw a bunch of modifications on.

        Matthew, we would be happy to answer the questions you listed.

        First, our supercharger system is equipped with the proper ECU calibration. You do not need to purchase the additional tune when purchasing the supercharger system.

        Our TCU upgrade is a great addition to any 55K however it is not necessary. Shift response and firmness becomes much better, and we also remove some of the torque limitations to put the power to the ground.

        Cooling is a big part of power and we always suggest running our trunk ice tank if you want the best possible results.

        Our shop test car now has about 110,000 miles and it is running very strong. Proper installation and maintenance aids in the longevity of any engine and especially these.

        The cost of our supercharger system is $8,649 and the 82mm throttle body is $1,240. From here the ice tank is $699.99 and I would recommend a spark plug change to a colder set of plugs which we also sell from 279.99.

        Total cost is right around $10,900 shipped. Installation does vary depending on the shop however it shouldn't be much. Please email us at sales@Weistec .com and I can give you more information on the parts and installation. Thank you!
