    • Porsche Macan rendering + Set to receive four cylinder motor and significant changes from Audi Q5

Obviously the Porsche Macan will be based on the Audi Q5 but that is about where the similarities end says Porsche. Porsche R&D chief Wolfgang Hatz states, "Everything has been modified. Engines, transmissions, suspension — it’s all new. Audi can’t believe what we’ve done. Audi should have no fears as the customers are so different." Yet, he also states the car will get a four cylinder motor meaning likely the same VW Group 2.0 turbocharged four-cylinder.

It will not have the motor right away Hatz said, “Not from the beginning, but in the medium to longterm, for sure." So there will be some overlap there but it will be interesting to see what Porsche has done with the motors and suspension to differentiate the car from the Q5. It has a lot of potential to be more fun to drive than the Cayenne considering the lower weight. It is also fairly certain it will get a turbocharged V6 based on the Panamera V6.

Expect a full reveal at next year's Frankfurt Auto Show.
