• The 2013 Audi S8 with a 4.0 TFSI Twin Turbo V8 hits 11's in the 1/4 mile stock with 0-60 in 3.5 seconds - MotorTrend test

The Audi S8 with its 520 horsepower 4.0 TFSI direct injected twin turbo V8 is proving to be quite a beast. The car is not a lightweight by any means with a curb weight of 4619 pounds yet it manages 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. The 1/4 mile sprint is accomplished in 11.8 seconds with a trap speed of 118.3 miles per hour. Very impressive and done with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The handling for such a heavy luxury sedan is equally impressive as the acceleration with the car pulling .90g on the skidpad. MotorTrend figure eight numbers are 25.1 seconds at .79g. These are highly impressive numbers all around.

The Porsche Panamera Turbo S basically matches the Audi S8 in acceleration despite weighing 200 pounds less and having a dual clutch transmission. That is saying something for the larger S8. The braking performance is also nearly equal with the Audi taking 2 feet longer from 60.

If the S8 is capable of this then the upcoming RS6 which should have slightly more power and be lighter along with a dual clutch transmission may just end up being the top of the next generation performance sedans. Until then, the S8 is the fastest Audi sedan offering and ahead of anything BMW has with a 7 series and only needs to fear the Mercedes S63 AMG.

Very very impressive. Audi keeps coming out with really good cars. I might even jump ship in a few years from now. If they keep coming out with amazing products. I still dont understand how this car with 520 hp and weighing more than an a new M6 runs as fast as one. Ridiculous!!! Well done Audi!!!

That Audi motor is pretty impressive and likely underrated.

The new RS6 is going to be a beast and likely best the M5. The E63 is already moving towards all wheel drive and a dual clutch, going to be sick!

I missed how impressive this car was until now. Amazed that a full size german lux sedan can hang with lambo's and Ferrari's in a strait line. Props to Audi.
