• Weistec Engineering releases M113K (kompressor) 3.0 liter supercharger upgrade for supercharged 55 AMG models

Rejoice W211 E55 and 55 AMG fans, the day is finally here. We first announced that this upgrade was being developed in December of last year and as usual Weistec diligently worked on it and delivered as promised. The 3.0 liter supercharger upgrade is officially on the market. There are several advantages to the 3.0 liter twin screw versus the factory 2.1 liter namely in the areas of efficiency and heat management which is vital for a positive displacement application.

The factory 2.1 liter supercharger weighs 50 pounds more than this upgrade. This is partially due to the solid steel drum of the clutch rotating assembly. In addition to the weight the way the supercharger is designed/placed has the intercooler in the valley of the V8 meaning it will get hot rather quickly due to heat from the engine rising out directly into it. Heat soak is a large issue with the M113K cars and there is a long history of W211 E55 owners in particular complaining about heat management. This issue will be mitigated considerably with the Weistec supercharger which has the intercooler fully floating within the lower manifold casting. Basically, airflow will cover the Weistec intercooler from all sides resolving the issues with heat soak.

This all boils down to a larger, more efficient, and lighter supercharger. More power, less weight, and the ability for repeat runs without losing that same power. Yes, exactly what M113K owners have been asking for. This same supercharger currently powers the fastest Mercedes in the world on the M156 motor platform and is a proven commodity.

The W211 E55 AMG sees a restriction at the point of the throttle body. Now remember, since this is a positive displacement design the car pulls air through the throttle body into the supercharger. The E55 was limited in this area by Mercedes likely to appease SL55, S55, and CL55 owners who had a larger throttle body. The factory 74mm can be upgraded by Weistec to 82mm with the supercharger upgrade eliminating a vital restriction point through which air passes to the compressor.

The supercharger kit retails for $8,649 and includes the following pieces:

      Key Features:

      • 3.0L Twin-Screw Compressor Module Why Twin-Screw?
      • 1000hp Liquid to Air Intercooler Core
      • High Flow, Cast Aluminum, T6 Hardened Lower Manifold
      • High Flow, Cast Aluminum, T6 Hardened Intake Elbow and Throttle Body Inlet
      • Maintains Factory Electronic Bypass Valve
      • Hard Anodized Front Drive Bracket with Double Bearing, Belt Wrap Idler
      • HD 8 Rib Belt Tensioner
      • HD Supercharger Serpentine Drive Belt
      • High Flow Billet Fuel Rail System
      • 650cc Fuel Injectors
      • Molded Silicone Air Pump and Throttle Body Coupler
      • Weistec Weaved Cotton Fiber Air Filter
      • New OEM Gaskets
      • Saves 50 Lbs. vs Factory Kompressor
      • Weistec Engineering, M113K S1 SC Reflash

Power figures with dyno graphs will be released shortly and detailed in a separate article. Congratulations to Weistec for delivering yet another great Mercedes product. Pictures are below, hurry up and order yours as there is no doubt this will be a very popular upgrade on the platform.

But I mean if it is a set of coilovers you should simply be able to set the rears soft anyway. You have to do it manually unless you get that KW DDC setup which in that case you just do it from your iphone.

That would be sick, but a good set of triple adjustable KW's or Bilsteins would work just as well. I can't think of any other car you can pick up that is as nice as an E55 and for 10k have a 600hp European rock solid cruiser. The bang for the buck is just amazing.

B5 S4 is really the only other European bang for the buck that is better but it obviously isn't as nice as an E55. Sportier though.

True, but the B5's are such an outdated design however highly tunable. Doesn't even compare to what you get with the larger E55. Really looking forward to seeing some hp figures. Do you know how much boost this 3.0L unit is running ?

Depends on the pulley, they can obviously push quite a bit. We will have more info when Weistec releases the graphs.

i emailed them today about them being sold out. here's what they had to say:

        "Matthew,

The M113k Supercharger Upgrade system will not be a limited production run. We will have more systems ready for sale soon.
In the next week or so, we will be releasing power numbers for M113k powered cars at various levels of modification, from stock, to cars with full exhaust and upgraded cooling and throttle body(82mm)

Please provide us with a contact phone number and we will put you into our database of interested customers that we will be directly notifying when the systems are no longer back ordered.
        Best Regards,
        Technical Staff"

im dying to order this thing. im also wondering how it will compare to the kleemann supercharger. when i saw the weistec one was sold out i did a search and came across the kleemann. it's a lil more pricey tho so i'd like to stick w the weistec. i saw another car (not an SL) got the kleeman on another post and got almost 100hp extra.

Dude, this thing is a 3.0 liter beast.

I didn't even realize Kleemann had anything and if they do it doesn't even compare to this blower and is likely way more expensive.

yah, just heard back from weistec again. here's what they had to say:

        "Matthew,
Our system is a bolt on replacement for the factory supercharger system on the M113k engine. Comparing it to the Kleemann M113 supercharger system would be comparing apples to oranges.

The Kleemann system utilizes a smaller supercharger than our system.

Our 3L Supercharger can make up to 1000hp with the proper supporting modifications

        Best Regards,
        Technical Staff"

the kleemann is for sale on the vividracing website. i tried to post the link but couldnt. i understood that the weistec is a replacement supercharger and i thought the kleemann one was too. it looks like it is in the pics. the kleeman is currently $9700 vs $8649 for the weistec. i agree it sounds like this weistec one is going to be absolutely insane. unfortunately i know nothing about engines so it's hard for me to understand the differences when comparing two.

Don't worry about it and just get the Weistec there is nothing else out there that will touch this thing. And IIRC the Kleemann supercharger that they sell for the M156 motor is a Weistec unit. That should tell you something.

        You and me both joe!

btw, b5 s4's can be stupid fast, but they are so unreliable it isnt even funny. Guy i know has a 600+ hp one on twin gt28rs's with meth and that thing is ALWAYS broken. He fixes it, it runs fine for a short while, then its broken again. This has happened 12+ times in the past 2-3 years he has owned the car. They need constant attention and are HUGE money pits.

This is true but the W211 has its issues as well. The main issue for the B5 S4 is the stock twins. Check this out, almost 600 whp for $3350: http://www.audiboost.com/content.php...power-for-3350

Anyway, let's keep this on topic but just like to inform about cars and tuning.

The E55 is a completely different car and with this upgrade will be... well amazing. As will all the other M113K motors. Just imagine a G55 sporting this blower.
