• Road and Track compares the R8 Grand-Am, GT, 5.2 V10 Spyder, and 4.2 V8 Spyder

Here is a very cool comparison of some of the various R8's available including even the Grand-Am race car. It should surprise nobody that the Grand-Am car is the fastest and best handling out of the group of R8's. What is surprising however is how close the R8 GT is. It only gives up 2/10's and 3 miles per hour through the 1/4 mile making the GT very close acceleration wise to the race car despite having a weight penalty of over 500 pounds. Impressive.

The acceleration may be close but around the track it isn't. The Grand-AM destroys the R8 GT by 81 car lengths around the roadcourse. The other R8's are even further back. Quite a difference between a fast street car and track car, isn't it? There better be a large difference on the track considering the R8 Grand-Am is $449,000. A very cool comparison to see, check out the data and video below.
