      Well here is what we have all been waiting for, forged internals for the Mercedes M156/M159 V8 and associated hardware from Weistec. These are the upgrades necessary to take already ridiculously fast Weistec supercharged M156 V8's to the level of shock and awe. The parts available are forged pistons, forged rods, head studs, gaskets, and valve buckets. These parts are all detailed below with specifications and pricing. The M156 and M159 game just entered the next level.

      M156 / M159 Forged Pistons and Billet Rods



      To upgrade the power handling potential of these V8 engines strong forged internal parts are necessary. The pistons and rods obviously are key pieces. The piston tops are ceramic coated to increase heat resistance and the skirts are teflon coated for reduced friction. Material for the rods is 4340 billet steel obviously much stronger than the stock pieces. The pistons retain the stock compression and these parts will support 1000+ horsepower.

      M156 / M159 Head Studs

      Weistec partnered with ARP (Automotive Racing Products) for the head studs, a company hardcore performance enthusiasts should be familiar with as their stellar reputation precedes them. When going for big power a common issue is the head lifting. Obviously one wants to avoid this and keep the coolant, oil, and air charge in each respective cylinder sealed nice and tight. These head studs offer 260,000+ PSI of tensile strength ensuring the head will be held down with much greater force than the stock studs. This will help avoid potential oil leaks or engine issues related to the mating of the head and block.

      M159 Valve Buckets

      This part deals with the issue many have been discussing regarding premature wear in M156 motors that BenzBoost famously broke in September of last year. The issue is accelerated wear due to the materials used in the valvetrain components. Weistec explains the M159 valve buckets this way, "Many M156 valve buckets are prone to "bleed down" resulting in excessive valve lash during cold start up, commonly heard as a loud tapping noise until the engine fully reaches operating temperature. Excessive valve lash is a major contributor to accelerated valvetrain wear. The M159 engine, used in the SLS and SLS roadster, features valve buckets that are of an improved design. The M159 valve buckets feature an anti friction coating to reduce wear on the camshaft lobes. They also have an improved hydraulic system that will not "bleed down" like the M156 valve buckets. Installation of M159 valve buckets will help prevent any premature wear to your engine's valvetrain and make for a quieter engine on cold starts."

      Some owners do not take this issue as seriously as others and this case is still pending but good advice is better safe than sorry.

      This is a complete gasket set which will be required when putting an M156 or M159 motor together, simple.

      M156 / M159 Built Engine Service


      Every part listed above except for the valve buckets (although highly recommended) is required for an engine build. Weistec obviously requires your motor which will be inspected and torn down. The block cylinders are then honed for the new pistons and the head is inspected. The engine will use all new bearings, gaskets, seals, and O-rings. After all this is done, one has a 1000 horsepower capable M156 or M159 motor. Weistec ported heads are obviously optional.

        No I didn't, those are going in a separate article since they are separate parts. Grouping them all together would mean less exposure and it would be worse for search engine searches.

        I do what is best for the board and the vendor.

        looks nice but 8 pistons and 8 rods for $6100?seems a little steep,but them i haven't priced the stock set up either.it could be the same.

        any weight savings here on the rod/pistons?

        what grade steel are the factory rods?

        The stock crank isn't a billet piece and these pistons and rods are stronger than any of the factory parts. The P31 stuff is stronger, but it isn't on this level.
