    • C63 AMG Black Series Coupe laps Laguna Seca in 1:36 - As fast as a 458 Italia, Nissan GT-R, and Lexus LF-A

We all knew the C63 AMG Black Series Coupe was going to be an impressive vehicle. We just had no idea it would raise the bar so far. Ex-DTM driver and champion Bernd Schneider was able to get it around the famed Laguna Seca course in a minute and thirty-six seconds. That puts the C63 Black Series on par with the 458 Italia, Nissan GT-R, Lexus LF-A, Porsche, 997 GT3 RS, and Audi R8 GT around the roadcourse. Pretty elite company indeed, check out the laptime list from fasted laps for Laguna Seca below.

MB AMG has really upped their game on this!! I used to always believe that AMG cars were like the European raw muscle cars, but couldn't really handle well on the track. This was always why I favored BMW M cars. But with AMG's huge step forward in all categories of automotive engineering, they have really won me over. It looks like this will demolish an M3 GTS, haha....Again, I am an M Fanatic for life, so this isn't easy for me to admit. Click here to enlarge

With that said, I want one...if only my bank account would let me.Click here to enlarge

Same here but AMG is doing a better job at being M than BMW M is.

I feel pretty confident that if you put the 458 in Bernd Schneider's hands instead of whatever amateur was driving it for Motor Trend, he would cut a lap a lot quicker than 1:36. For the sake of direct comparison, the only time listed above that matters is Bernd's 1:40 in the SLS. It still puts the C63 BS in some very fast company, though. But I guarantee you it's not gonna hang with a 458.

I do not disagree with you but these are the laptimes we have to go on. Definitely impressive company which shows the vehicle is quite capable.

I'd like to see some Nurburgring times. That is the ultimate test of a cars capabilities and really shows exactly how good it is.

I'd also like to know if those front and rear vents/air extractors are functional like the ones on the CLK BS.

The ring is turning a bit into a power course due to its length. I do agree it is the most challenging with all the different turns one has to navigate but a ring laptime is just part of a puzzle as well. This thing will probably be in the low 7:40 to maybe high 7:30 range based on what we have seen here.

Good question, I certainly hope so!

Mercedes is releasing cars like this and BMW is busy playing with plastic cars with electric motors. It's comical in a way.

The amateurs who recorded the lap times were Randy Pobst and Justin Bell. One of them posted a 138.9 with the SLS.

In the 458 ? That's what I was referring to. How do you know this? The list posted above just says Motor Trend. I assumed it was one of the magazine drivers. If not, then my apologies for assuming wrong.

Man this car is beast, but me personally, I can't get on board with the wing and front end fins...and for the price difference, I don't see it being worth it over the standard c63...but I don't know the full details except the additional hp, body stuff, and top speed...still a sick car though Click here to enlarge

        Those are an option.
