    • Official photos/pictures of the new 2012 R172 SLK55 AMG

Here it finally is folks, the new 2012 SLK55 AMG. The car has a 422 horsepower 5.5 liter V8 which is naturally aspirated. The motor also features cylinder deactivation technology. It would seem Mercedes did not want the SLK stepping on any of its big brothers toes so it developed this new V8 specifically for the SLK55 . Expect more details and higher resolution photos after the Frankfurt Auto Show where the SLK55 will be officially revealed but for now enjoy this first set of photos.

Not bad at all. Still a very big engine for this little car!

Don't like the wheels, front headlights somehow seem out of proportion too. Just dont dig it. then again i have always been an SL guy. However 422hp seems like a lot of power for this model, only 50hp short of the old C63. Wonder what headers, a tune and exhaust would do, probably turn it into a real little animal!!

451 hp for C63, 422 hp for this SLK55... I'd guess, stock vs. stock, they'd both deliver similar levels of performance.Overall, nice job MB/AMG... definitely a more masculine SLK than the last two versions...

More masculine but still missing something. Why is the Vette so much more masculine than this?
