• First E9X M3 S65 V8 supercharged with Vortech YSI - Gintani Stage III+ M3 supercharger teaser + pictures

We have all known for a while now that Stage III supercharger kits from Gintani are coming. There are a handful of cars running around now but they are running Vortech T-trim blowers. Due to the volumetric efficiency and high revs of the S65 M3 engine the fairly large T-trim gets maxed out fairly quickly. In comes the bigger, badder Vortech YSI. As you can see from the pictures the YSI fits, just barely though. The supercharger casing does need to be modified slightly in order for it to fit without issue.

Part of the delay going to this big blower was the bracket. The bracket needed to be re-designed to handle the YSI and make sure it would not flex. The bracket on this car is not the final design. We saw the final design on another M3 and it is gorgeous. We were not allowed to photograph it though so as to not give it away. Understandable at this stage in the game.

What we can tell you about the Stage III is one will be able to get it with a YSI if one chooses. The T-trim is also an option and means if one upgrades from Stage II to Stage III they do not need a new blower. We are not sure if they will just refer to the Stage III with a YSI as Stage III+ or something different.

The car here is running the YSI with meth on 91 pump gas. It has seen various boost figures up to 18 psi. It turns out, even a blower like the YSI can be maxed out on the S65 at stock displacement. The car here has also been revved quite high as well and the YSI has kept up although it is nearing the end of its efficiency range. This car is a daily driver that has been beaten on since the beginning and continues to be driven hard with the Stage III setup. Some areas that needed upgrading were discovered during the durability testing which will be going on the other Stage III cars now as well.

More details will come soon but for now enjoy the pictures. The owner described the car simply as silly fast and with the power figures we heard we do not doubt him. We can not go into the exact numbers but suffice it to say they should satisfy just about everyone. With not really any room for anything bigger this is going to be the biggest power upgrade available for the S65... for now.

S65 max out the YSI? Even LS engines with much higher displacement can't do that, lol.

I think they probably can when built. The thing is, the M3 revs much higher and has a much higher VE as well. Just goes to show what a bad, bad motor the S65 is.

oh boy, questions, questions, questions!pulley sizes? 10 rib?does the air flow up through the aftercooler and then down into the throttles? i cant quite tell.can we see the heat exchanger for the after cooler? is it running a pusher fan on the front of it?what thickness and material are used for the supercharger bracket?what IATs are you seeing?it looks like those engine covers direct air towards the intake filter. true?is that a reservoir for the aftercooler system at the rear passenger side of the engine bay?what water/meth mixture? more info on the system?

You have questions galore but only so much can be said as I'm sure you understand.

The aftercooler setup seems to be pretty similar to the regular kit so the answers from that should apply.

The material on the bracket, I can't share and I do not know the exact thickness. The final version was thick... and beautiful Click here to enlarge

They aren't running 100% meth, it is a mix, not sure what % he had in.

Edit limit is short, new option coming that will give you a VERY long extended edit time if you want it.

That is a LOT of air. M motors are truly incredible.I'm going to be thinking about how to fit twin turbos in there all day, Gintani has done a wonderful job packaging all of that.

Now your job is to figure out if you think an F1-R can fit in there.

I think the YSI gets maxed out is because of the High revving engine. the vettes are not 8300rpm right?!
